Description This is the second oldest bridge over the Ohio River here at Louisville, Kentucky. The bridge is mostly built of steel shortly after steel became the main building material in The US. There is a lot of steel in this bridge form entry ramps to the main bridge that spans the Ohio River. It is upward of a little over 2 miles long.

This bridge was one of the first spans that supported automobile traffic. There is two one lanes each on each side of the main railroad structure. The bridge is a little over a hundred years old. The automobile lanes are made with steel floors or decks. Two railroad passages and two automobile passages.

This bridge also as a turnstile over the river to allow tall boat river passage back in the day. After the damn across the Ohio River was built the water level was lowered because of the damn built here at Louisville. Now that the water level is lower the turnstile has not been used in years and years.

I need to check but my thinking. I think this the the first bridge that supported foot and automobile traffic over the Ohio River. Automobile traffic was stopped some 35/40 years back. I have driven over this bridge back in the day. 1967/68 or so.

Second oldest bridge built over the Ohio River. The Oldest bridge which was a railroad bridge only was remover years back.

This bridge is between Louisville and New Albany, Indiana. Going back with Models and do a shoot here. ......... .
