The gorgeous =yola-bear took and modelled the shot, so I usually wouldn't have submitted it but I spent ages on the manipulation, so don't shoot me! -cowers-So...what do you think?

Great work. Before you stated so and i looked closer i thought that it was all makeup. Reminds me of some of the more eccentric people i meet at raves. Only small crit is when you look at the lips up close the colouring seems to go off at slightly an unnatural angel.

heh, I wasn't reading other's critiques, but I just glanced at eurai's and all I can say is, "yeah waht he/she said!" My thoughts are identical in regards to the clothing and the chin. All I minght add is be very subtle in darkening the chest, to keep it looking cohesive.

The face looks very interesting, but the lipstick work might need a bit of fixing up. But it's very nice, overall.

Nice, I really like the eyes. It's has been done well, I have seen and done many manipulations and this is rather smooth, especially the makeup around the eyes and the smoothness of it all. You have made it look pretty cool, but the lips are kinda funky. It makes her look like she is screwing up her lips like she had something super sour but it's not. And I think the lipstick is slightly off from the rest of the lips.
Basically I like it. Good work

Despite its being chromatically subdued, the lustrous softness of her expression is ineffably vibrant. Your usage of faint color only around her lips seems symbolically significant given the nature of the occupation of a geisha, too; overall, you've applied brilliant contrast in both hue and metaphor, here.
Her eyes, too, are rendered wonderfully, with a faint glint of personality shining beneath an otherwise almost imposingly black void.
The area around her chin and a majority of her hair seem as though they could be further softened, though, in order to better enhance the effect her expression so uncompromisingly emits. May I suggest also darkening the visible borders of her clothing and torso? Her face dramatically commands the image, but the brightness of her clothing is slightly distracting.
Still -- what a lovely interpretation of her self-portrait you've crafted, here.

I've a habbit of "frocking up" and going out in public with friends in themed gear... ive done a simmilar geisha look with the same lipstick, but a small black dot under the center of each eye instead of the line that Yola has. kinda like this.... [link]
