Slade Wilson: grizzled PI. He's a mysterious man with a dark secret—which cost him his eye, his family, and his place on the force. Now, he's a detective for hire in Gotham, one of the county's most crime-ridden cities.

Dick "Robin" Grayson: a bubbly, sunny young man. He's a member of Gotham's notorious gang, Wings. Dick has led a hard-scrabble life since his parents were killed by the Falcones, but he's never let tragedy keep him down.

Stormy weather and closed venues forces Slade into one of Wings' bars for his usual after-work drink. Dick doesn't recognize him, and they hit it off, heading home together. It begins an affair, where both agree to leave their lives and true identities at the door. Problem being—the detective is very much aware that Dick is the right-hand to the most powerful man in Gotham. Slade would've been smart to never contact Dick after that first night, but find himself increasingly unable to resist the bird's earnest and vibrant attentions.
