Back in 2019, I was watching KnightEdge22 (Formerly known as "AnimeGam3r11") stream Devil May Cry 2 and something had been bothering me for quite a while.

While DMC2 tried to portray Dante as a more serious character, compared to his wise-cracking self in the original and Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening, he was still full of his signature one-liners. However, there was one line that did bother me:

His "Devils Never Cry" speech.

I get that it was supposed to help Lucia realize that even though she was grown in a test tube, she's still just as human as he is, but man that line is still... kind of cringey. Makes sense considering Devil May Cry started life as an early pitch for Resident Evil 4, though.

So, during K.E.'s Livestream I imagined an alternate scenario where Dante used a retooled version of Gray Fox's last words to Solid Snake during the battle with Metal Gear REX in the original Metal Gear Solid. I felt that this would help better show that Dante has matured. Especially with the direction Capcom tried to take but backed out of, due to fan backlash.

I just hope this will help clear things up.
