Description New Year’s  eve has just left you and your crew as a new festive day would arrive. Your birthday. Not like you actually cared at all, because let’s be honest with ourselves here. It’s just another day on the ship, with a strange crew and an even more stranger captain. Another day filled with work to do and people talking to you like they do every day. So what’s more special to this day than any other day? Right. Nothing. It’s nothing to feel special about. Every one is the same on this ship, no one excluded. Not even the only female on the ship.

Why it still is another festive day? The crew had found a reason to celebrate. Found something to drink for. A reason to pester the captain about. The only thing bothering you is that you’re not allowed to take part in whatever they were doing and you really don’t know why. It didn’t matter who you were advancing, no one would tell.

It set a frown to your face, because you felt left out. Were you not important in this crew at all? Was your hard work in vain the moment something important occurred and only the crewmates longest there could partake in it.

A loud and heavy breath left your chapped lips as you tried to screw the bolt tighter. Sweat started to drip down from your brow the longer you were down here. Heat as high, resembling a summer island blew in your face as steam leaked once again from another hole in the pipe. “Damn it!” You hissed as the exposed skin screamed in pain. The screwdriver fell from your fingers as you dropped everything in your grasp, retracting your hand quickly before cradling it. Blisters were already forming and you started blowing over the sensitive skin to cool it down a little. “Just my luck.” Your mutter was soft. (e/c) orbs flickered down to the metal of the screwdriver and a groan grew in your throat. It was there, perfectly between the pipes, behind some other hot pipes.

Truth is, you just wanted to leave it there. You wanted someone else to just go and grab it for you, because you were starting to get tired of it. Always, every time you worked on these pipes, you got burned. Other duties you had to fulfil? No problem. But this? Fate turned on you and made an easy task too hard to endure, laughing in your face as you tried again and again. With a sigh, you dropped to your knees, grabbed a hex key and hooked it around the tool. The heat radiating from the metal surrounded your hand like a warm hug, burning your already sensitive skin even more.

“Shouldn’t you have fixed that already?”

A shriek left your lips as you were too focused on the task ahead to notice the man approaching you from behind. Your hand slipped, touching the pipe. The back of it hissed and it smelled like cooking flesh. A loud scream bubbled from within, but you clenched your teeth to withhold the yell that would have come. Tears pricked in your eyes as the burned skin stuck to the pipe and blood seeped from the wound. “Damn it, Penguin!” The older male flinched from your yell. Not because of the anger that the simple words were coated with, but because sadness was filling the air between the two of you.

“(y/n)..”

“Yes, I know! I should have fixed it already and I’m sorry!” You growled at him, not looking in his eye as you tried to get to your feet. The older male reached out to you, wanting to help before you might lose your footing and fall against the pipes, making the damage even more horrible than it already was. You however raised your undamaged hand in the air, stopping him in his advances. “Don’t. You stink.”

“(y/n), you should go and see captain for that, before it gets infected.” He murmered, brows knitted together as he watched you stumble away from him towards the door, grumbling things he wouldn’t dare to say again. The moment you turned the corner, the ravenette smirked to himself. He wasn’t as drunk as you had expected and truth be told, he really didn’t like the wound you had gotten from the work they had sabotaged before. But he had to occupy you with something before the secret gathering would unfold themselves in front of your eyes.

With a skip in his step he walked back to the kitchen, the (y/n)-forbidden room for this very day. He knocked twice before being let in. The cake was still there, balloons were floating around and Bepo was still wearing the little crown he had gotten earlier. Shachi placed the camera down on the table and grinned up at his friend, giving him a thumbs up.

“You really think this is a good idea?” Bepo asked as he approached Penguin. The latter beamed up at him as best as he could.

“Yeah, well duh! We finally know her birthday so we’re going to use it to celebrate too!” Penguin grinned. Shachi threw his arm around his best friend and smirked up at the polar bear, nodding his head fiercely.

“You’re using her.” Bepo scolded with a sweatdrop running down his temple at their antics.

“We are not!” Shachi and Penguin retorted loudly. Everybody else hissed at them to be more quiet. “Okay, maybe a little bit.” They whispered and rubbed the back of their necks. Bepo sighed before perking up a little as he heard voices nearing the door.

“Shh! They’re coming!” The cook hissed towards the others, flicking off the lightswitch and hiding behind the table on his own. Footsteps scattered around before coming to a halt, leaving the dark room in its silence.

“Trust me, (y/n)-ya. There was nothing important going on there at all.”

“Don’t give me that crap, captain. Everyone was in there and you know it. Only I wasn’t allowed, now why is that?”

Law’s sigh was loud enough to hear even behind the closed door. “Just see for yourself.” The door opened slowly and you let your hand wander over the wall to find the switch to turn on the lights.

“Surprise!”

A yelp echoed from your slightly parted lips and you jumped back into the chest of your tattooed captain. His hands rested on your waist to keep you from standing on his toes. Your heart beated inside of your chest, pushing its way up your throat. No response. Nothing else left your lips as you closed your eyes and balled your fists as tight as possible, silently counting to a hundred.

The silence that came from your form infected the other cheerful people as they too, became quiet. Shachi and Penguin looked at each other in worry and Bepo started to advance you and your captain quietly. As he stood there in front of you, his eyes were fluttering everywhere, searching for something to say to you. Finally, he lowered his head and spread his lips.

“I’m sorry.”

The crew fell on their backs with a groan. Penguin and Shachi recovered as firsts and quickly made their way over to the bear. “You idiot!” Law raised his brow at them and crossed his arms over each other to soon glare at them. “Ah, I’m sorry, captain!” Penguin quickly muttered, followed suit by his friend. (e/c) orbs finally looked up at Bepo. Lips curled as the eyes caught sight of the little crown on the white animal in front of you. Arms left the side of your body to cling onto the fabric of the orange jumper. Droplets rolled down your cheeks as a sob pushed its way out of your throat, clawing up to fill the air with its friends.

“Thank you.” Every pair of eyes turned to you. Bepo’s paws curled themselves around your body. Shachi and Penguin jumped on you and the bear, embracing your slightly shaking form in their hug. “Thank you.” Every single one of the crew was walking to the four of you to engulf you in their arms, leaving only the captain to stand on his own, awkwardly.

With a now happy face, you tilted your head back a little, locking eyes with your captain. Your lips were curled into the brightest smile you could muster. Lips mouthed a thank you to him too. The tanned man nodded curtly and made his way inside of the room. His long legs brought him to the table with drinks and snacks. His eyes flickered to the cake and he visibly flinched as he caught sight of his arch enemy. Cake. On breadbase. Who had baked it behind his back, he could only guess. Stormy grey eyes glared back at the cook of his crew, before a hiss escaped his lips and he scooted away from the abomination as far as possible. The cook shuddered slightly at the glare that was turned to him, but aside from that, he and everyone else congratulated you on your birthday.

“So… How old are you now?” The sip Law had taken from his drink shot into the wrong hole and coughing filled the air.

“Shachi! You don’t ask something like that! Rule number one. Never ask a woman’s age.” The cook said in a scolding manner.

(e/c) eyes jumped from face to face, seeing that they were obviously all wondering how old you actually are. A brow raised itself on your visage and a smirk appeared on your lips. “Oh ho ho. I’ve worked alongside of you for a long time and you really didn’t know?”

“I’m sorry.”

“Bepo.. you know how old I am.”

“I’m sorry.”

“It’s alright.”

“So again, how old are you?”

“Not going to tell.” You sing sang before making your way to the drinks and grabbing a cup of rum and placing your butt next to Law’s.

“No fair!”

“Life’s not fair. Deal with it.” You murmered before downing your drink in one go.

“Happy birthday, (y/n)-ya.” Law whispered in your ear as he leaned in, kissing your temple as he leaned back to sit back against the couch again.

“Captain kissed (y/n)!” Shachi whisper-yelled to his friend.

“Do you think they are together?” Penguin retorted as he turned to him with a frown.

“No! I wanted (y/n) to myself!” Shachi whined.

Law raised his brow and moved his arm around your shoulder. “Mine.”

“Captain!”

Tattooed arms wrapped themselves around your form protectively, pulling you flush against his chest, letting out a small growl towards the men. "Mine."

You on the other hand sat there quietly and took everything the others had done dor you in. The flags. The banners. The cake. Some presents. Everything. It seemend everyone had partaken in it and happiness filled you in the core, knowing you weren't just someone of the crew. With a small smile you looked down into your empty mug. "Thank you." You whispered once again to no one in particular.

They fell quiet. Their friendly banner simply put aside. Shachi made his first move, bringing over the cake with the lit candles. "Make a wish."

You locked eyes with him, wondering what possibly could be wished for right now. You had everything. A healthy crew, an amazing captain, great friends.. People you could call family.

The never faltering smile left your lips for a short while as you closed your eyes and sucked in some air, just to blow it away. The small fire danced in the blown air, moving wildly in its wake, before fanishing altogether.

"Hooray! Congrats!"

"Now what did you wish for?"

A blush dusted the apples of your cheeks as Law blew a small amount of warm air in your ear with his question.

Extended ending
"And then she burned herself on the pipes Shachi and I had succesfully sabotaged." The ones still standing after drinking that much were laughing for no real reason at all. It wasn't funny, but they were drunk. Everything was funny in their minds now.

Your ears started to pick up the subject of their laughter and blood rushed to your already reddening face. Law's hands couldn't keep you in their grasp as you stomped over to the snickering males. They flailed on the ground, pounding their fists on the hard ground to will their laughter away in any means.

Others stopped as they saw the devil in disguise creeping up on them, crawling away as fast as possible in their state.

"Wait! Where are you going! The best is yet to come."

"Shachi. Penguin." Fire erupted from your eyes as you loomed over the poor and soon-to-be flying souls. "Please tell me that wasn't true." A sickening sweet smile graced your features as you grabbed the collars of their jumpers and held them tightly.

Penguin gulped audibly at your antics and told you it was indeed not true. Shachi looked at him dumbfounded. "But you were supposed to sabotage the pipes, Pen. Don't tell me you didn't do just that." Oh poor Penguin. If only Shachi wasn't that honest when drunk.

"Five seconds." You growled. Penguin flailed in your grasp willing to get away as soon as possible.

"Four.."

"Captain!"

"Three.."

"Captain, help!"

"Two.."

"Sorry, you're on your own now." Law said with a smirk.

"One.." You let the collars go and both men ran for their lives, willing to leave the room at the same time, resulting for them to get stuck with themselves. Limps were pushing and pulling, wishing to free the owners as quickly as possibly in the short amount of time.

"Zero."

Two pairs of eyes flickered back in full despair. The lump that had gathered itself in their throat was pushed down with a gulp. One last push was needed to free themselves.

Screaming for their dear lives, mommy and any god up there, they ran for a hiding spot. A spot the mechanic of the ship wouldn't know about at all. Shame for them, you knew every crook and cranny in this tinbox under the water.

"Come back here!"

"When will you give it to her, captain?" Bepo asked as he leaned in to his captain, his beady eyes wandering over the picture they had taken together previously.

"When she's calmed down. Wouldn't risk her to tear it now, would we?" Grey eyes flickered down to the picture too before his fingers caressed the surface.

It wasn't an every day occurrance the captain of the Heart pirates would smile. (y/n), however was worth it to give it to. Besides that, she would need it for when Law's plan would take action and the captain of the ship has to leave the crew and his sunshine behind for the greater good.

"Happy birthday, (y/n)-ya." He said to himself as he closed his eyes for a second.
