Description The meat sizzled as you laid it in the pan, moving the meat around with the spatula, preventing it from burning. Humming softly, you busied around in the kitchen, a large Samoyed dog sitting on the edge, knowing he wasn’t allowed over there. A whine stopped you in your tracks, urging you to look over and meet the beady eyes of the dog, his tongue slipping past his lips to wet his nose before the dog panted softly, his tail wagging. Smiling yourself genuinely, you grabbed a piece of meat the boy was allowed to have before walking over towards him, a cough escaping your lips roughly. “There you go, Bepo.” You murmered softly, the face mask scrunching up as you smiled at the boy. Bepo’s tongue was slimy as he licked up the piece you offered, his tail moving side to side eagerly. The dog was once more left behind on the doorstep as you went back to cooking, after washing your hands. Rice was put in the rice cooker, vegetables were being steamed slowly, the meat almost done. Sudden coughing stopped you in your tracks, the pain of it forcing you to your knees, one hand holding the counter for stability. Bepo whined softly before his black nails tapped on the white tiles, his wettened nose pushed over your neck, his tongue licking tentatively. His expression was almost worried, if he could express that in a human way. Your eyes were screwed shut, small tears prickling from your lids as you begged for the coughing fit to stop. Fingers, still holding the counter, paled at the strength used to stay up before they gave out, your body falling on the hard floor as you now sat against the kitchen island, head lolled forward and breathing harshly in the aftermath. Bepo’s paw covered your hand, his head low and his nose pressed under your chin.

Pushing your head back with willpower and the dog’s help, you sighed softly as a few more tears rolled over your cheeks, your breathing ragged and throat raw. Exhaustion washed over you like a tidal wave, pulling you under as you sat there, catching your breath. The Samoyed tilted his head as you tried to get up, your stance unstable as a sudden, intense headache pushed you almost to the ground.  “Fuck!” You grumbled, holding the counter and your head when your sight became hazy. Blinking rapidly didn’t help, unfortunately and with some difficulties, you turned off the stove. Bepo was silent, his presence forming like a mere shadow as he became like glued to your leg, his eyes never leaving your form. The dog was too smart and you knew it, but now it started to bother you a bit. Gulping down, you willed yourself to finish the dish before you made yourself some more “killer tea”, a concoction of hot water, lemon juice, ginger and honey. Shivering, the dish was quickly made, only to be covered by tin foil for later use, the rest stored in boxes and put in the fridge. The tea was made easily before you took it towards the couch where you wrapped yourself up in a blanket and popped several paracetamol for the evening. It was only 6.30 in the evening, yet you felt oh so tired. Without notice, you laid down on your side, eyelids getting heavier by the second. You were out at the same moment your head hit the pillow.

Bepo jumped onto the couch, his paws placed carefully as he laid against your shivering form, his head resting on the pillow just above your head. His body heat helped your sick body a bit and as you became warmer, your form stopped shivering for the first time today.

Later that evening, Law unlocked the front door to the apartment slowly, the lights of the corridor illuminating the dark apartment a bit, his form shaping a shadow in front of him. His brow raised as he didn’t hear the ticking of nails hitting the wooden floors, his hand searching for the switch. It flicked on and the lightbulb flickered to life. His golden coloured eyes caught sight of your shoes on the floor on the same place as this morning and his hand rubbed his face before he took his own shoes off. Golden eyes trailed over the small corridor before he walked into the kitchen, his stomach rumbling from hunger. Immediately, stomach rumbled louder as he found a plate with food on the kitchen counter, the dishes piled up next to it. A tick of annoyance appeared on his temple as he was used to you cleaning up almost immediately after cooking when you stayed over.

The food was swiftly pushed into the microwave, warming up within minutes. The black haired surgeon sighed in delight when he could finally eat his first bite since lunch today, his stomach settling as it was filled slowly, the food now too hot to eat at a fast pace. Only when he was finished, the male rinsed his plate and dried his hands, not wanting to bother with the dishes at the moment. He was genuinely surprised Bepo hadn’t walked up at him, the dog should be walked soon as well, Law noticed as he looked at the red digits on the oven. With a yawn, the older male walked over towards the dark living room. Here, just like before, he flicked on the lights, coming eye to eye with the white dog that looked at him from the end of the couch, accompanied by a mop of (h/c) hair and the soft coughing from you. On the side table stood your, now cold, tea, the glass still full as you hadn’t had the chance to even sip from the concoction. Law walked over slowly, careful not to make any noise. Bepo’s eyes followed his owner, not moving too much for you could stir.

Law’s tattooed hand caressed your hot cheek softly, before he moved it to your forehead. You were burning up and the surgeon sighed unimpressed. “You should be in bed, if you’re sick. Not wanting to take care of me, stupid.” The male grumbled softly as he moved to pick you up.

“Noooo..” You mumbled, whiningly so, eyes screwed shut before they fluttered open at the touch of your boyfriend. “I don’t want you getting sick.. Leave me here.” Your sentences were interrupted by another coughing fit and Law sat down to rub your back soothingly, his eyes soft as he looked at you. True, you were stupid to even come here yesterday, knowing you didn’t feel well, making it even worse for today after the walk over here from your to his apartment. But there, in your lonely apartment it felt colder, colder than before, cooling more the minute you stayed there. It wasn’t quite like it was before, your heart being captured by the surgeon, trapped and secluded in his home or whenever he came over at your place, which wasn’t that many times. You hid yourself under the blanket, the coughing getting worse and you not wanting for the male to get the same as you. Stupid flu.

Bepo moved slowly away from you, jumping down from the couch gracefully before standing next to Law, his nose budging the male a bit. Law tried to push the animal away, at the moment not wanting to leave your side and trying to convince you to get to bed. Eventually, Law had to give up as you were too tired to move and he had to walk the dog. “I’ll be right back.” He murmered against your temple, before resting his lips against it for a couple of seconds, waiting for a soft ‘okay’ from yours. “Go to bed.” The door was opened and closed quietly when Law walked out, Bepo following him quickly.

When Law came back, his hands were pale, having forgotten to take gloves with him. Bepo jumped up and down before going over to the couch, his snout bumping your nose as a wet and cold wake up call and in his hyper state, ran back to Law, watching and waiting for him to be done. Law huffed as he had only unlaced one shoe in the time Bepo had done that, rolling his eyes at the antics of the dog. Your nearby coughing notified the male that you really hadn’t moved, just like you had said, even when he had told you to go to bed instead right before he left. Rubbing his hands together to get some warmth back, Law blew in his fists as he walked up to you, watching you silently when you settled back in your blankets. Bleary eyes looked up at Law as he smiled down softly.

With quick movements, Law trapped you in your blanket, hooked his arms under your knees and around your shoulders, heaving you up in the air. “Hey!” You grumbled, softly as your voice was raspy. “I don’t want you to catch it. Put me down.” Law ignored your requests and walked over towards the bedroom, pushing the doors open with his back, his lips touching your temple every now and then. “Law..” The man in question hushed your whining when he lowered you in his king sized bed, turning around to change in oversized sweatpants and a dark shirt that hugged his figure nicely. Even after seeing this many times before, your cheeks burned more as you couldn’t take your hurting eyes from him. The muscles rippled under his skin with every move, his lean figure painted with black paintings, making him more alluring to the eye. His golden eyes watched you with the same glint of fascination and as you saw him staring, you mustered the energy to send him a loving smile when the male took away your face mask, you yourself unable to do so thanks to the blanket tightly wrapped around you. Your lips moved, mouthing a quiet ‘I love you’ towards the male. Law still wasn’t used to the honesty behind it all, stilling in his action before he sat down next to you, leaning in to kiss your forehead.

“Go to sleep.” He murmered, only moving away when you had closed your eyes as your breathing slowed with a steady rhythm. When he came back, after finishing in the bathroom, he saw that Bepo had sneaked inside, laying next to you on the ground. “Cheater. I brought you here from the shelter.” Bepo merely looked at him, his head still laying on his front paws and huffed. One last cares over the white fur and Law settled down next to you, his arms folded under his head and golden eyes trained on the ceiling, only to slowly turn to the corner of his eyes, watching you frown in your sleep, breathing heavy and ragged. “I’ll regret this in the morning.” At that, the surgeon turned to you and held you close to his body, his heat warming you and his arms trapping you. His lips lingered on your head, your (h/c) tickling his throat as he moved to the position before. “Love you too, stupid.”
