Description Warning: bullying

Tired eyes watched the illuminated screen in front of him. Brows furrowed as he read line after line again. His hand, firstly holding the mouse of the computer, now fell in his lap next to the other, limply. Under the writings there was a picture of him and someone he met at a party. Tattooed arms were wrapped around her waist, the girl straddling his lap as she looked down upon him with a smile. Her perfect manicured fingers played with the hem of his shirt she slowly lifted from his body. Law replayed that memory at the same time as he saw the picture the fuss was about. A shiver ran down his spine as goose bumps crawled over his arms. Shaking fingers wrapped themselves around the muscles of his fore arms, a shuddering breath escaped his lips.

He knew something was going wrong the exact moment he had accepted the invitation. No one invited him for parties. No one. He was surprised to be asked by the football team captain that day. Law closed his eyes and let the screen of his laptop fall shut, not wanting to see the picture, read the threats thrown his way, anymore. It wasn’t his fault, right? He didn’t know she had a boyfriend as she had literally thrown herself on top of him on the couch. Law didn’t know this was a trick to bully him, to give someone else that little push to get mad at him. He had seen the eyes directed on him that party, had heard the whispers as he passed groups or duo’s standing around. Law knew not one there had liked him. Not on the party and certainly not at school.

The light that accompanied the male in his room disappeared the moment Law shut his laptop, leaving him in the haunting dark. That one place that was worse than any place at school. Only, because the voices would appear louder than any other time a day. The harsh whispers, the sneers directed at him, the hurting words. Law’s lips trembled as he took a deep breath of air. A small tap redirected his sight to the window. Stars and a moon shone in the dark void far up in the sky, accompanied by the lights on the city he lived in. Twigs of a nearby tree screeched over the glass as the wind moved it up and down. Quickly, Law moved his line of sight once again to the side, a little flustered he had thought, hoped, it was something else. Arms were wrapping themselves around his knees after Law sat on his bed, making himself as small as possible. Tears pricked behind his lashes, but with quick movements, Law rubbed them away, getting angrier at himself as seconds ticked by.

Fingers curled around his arms, just like he did before. Nails started to dig in his skin, damaging it as crescent like shapes were formed. Some of them drew blood, most of them didn’t. The short amount of pain wasn’t enough, not when he had to see all those people tomorrow. This little amount of pain couldn’t prepare himself for what would come at school. Law shut his eyes tightly, a quiet sob racking through his throat before slipping past his lips. Many more followed the first. He felt so, so small.

“Manwhore.
Scum.
You don’t belong here.
You’re dead, Trafalgar. So, so dead.
Waste of space.”

The words were whispered, echoing in his mind, like a lover’s breath. All those words, lies, he would tell himself, were the only truth he could live by.

*~*~*~

The next day was different from what he had thought. He wasn’t already grabbed and almost strangled to lose his breath against a wall. Law wasn’t thrown into the lockers, yet. Anxiously, the man walked through the corridors, students chit-chatting merrily around. A soft sigh left his lips, curling them up just a little bit at the corners. Law saw his only friends standing a little further ahead, talking to themselves as Shachi waved his arms around in the air. Cheerleaders walked from their lockers to a corner in the corridor, throwing a look of disgust at Law’s friends. The sulking Shachi did immediately after, widened Law’s slight smile.

Thwack.

Law groaned as his hand raised itself to the side of his head that had hit metal, his sight blurry at the edges. “Trafalgar.” He heard someone growl, knuckles cracking as the other curled his fingers. Stout digits grabbed the raven locks and pulled Law up in the air, another fist resting in the air, a living threat to what was surely about to come. A foul breath wafted towards the student as a face appeared in Law’s line of sight.

“Bane.” Law whispered, a smug look appearing on his face. “Here to get into trouble once again?” The hand that was in the air before, now lowered to grab Trafalgar’s throat, cutting his air off effectively. Bane smirked, seeing Law struggle to take away his crushing fingers.

“Don’t forget who leads this school, Trafalgar. Wouldn’t want to end up dead, would you?” Bane’s face lowered towards Law’s face, breathing harshly over his skin. Law wrinkled his nose in disgust before his eyes trailed over the corridor. Students were scattered around, some close by, others further away, eyes focussed on the scene in front of them. A couple of them held up their phones, filming everything. Some were shocked, others looked indifferent like this was a reoccurring thing. Black rings started to form around Law’s line of sight, his lungs burning for air. Fingers slipped from the holding hand before Law’s arms fell limp beside him, his strength leaving him.

“Bane.” One voice, short and annoyed, rang through Law’s ears like a bell. “Let him go.” The grip on Law’s throat eased up a little and his lungs drank the air greedily with every breath. Bane’s face turned to the side, watching the other person that took his wrist. “He’s not worth it, Bane. Besides, teachers will come and see what’s happening. Do you really want detention over a guy like him?” The words stung and Law winced at them. The dark circles faded, leaving the male with the sight in front of him. A mop of (h/c) hair and piercing (e/c) eyes watched the bully intently, not bothering with the bullied one at all right now.

Bane growled shortly before retracting his hand from Law’s skin like he was burned at the contact. “Fine.” With one last word, Bane left to stroll towards his class, hands stuffed deeply into his pockets. You sighed, eyes glued on the retreating male before turning to look at the beaten up male in front of you. Law saw your face twisting to a frown.

“I would ask whether you’re fine or not, but this will prove me enough.” You said, fingers ghosting over Law’s throat. “Please see the nurse for these bruises and report it.” You whispered, retracting your hand from his skin as you heard approaching footsteps. “Please, Law.” With quick steps you walked away after Bane and his gang. Grey eyes watched you leave before his view was obscured with red and black hair.

“Are you okay, Law?”

“We will get him soon. Trust me.” Penguin and Shachi said, pumping their fists in the air. Law gave them a soft smile before he reached up to touch his now sore throat. “Come on, we’ll get you to the nurse.”

“Y-yeah.” Law only whispered, coughing a little to get his voice under control once again. His eyes darted back to where you had rounded the corner, leaving for your class. “Thanks.”

*~*~*~

He was getting tired of the passing notes before they reached him, reminding him what the voices were saying the night before. Another note was passed around, some giggling when they read the contents, others just grinning and looking back to the ravenette. From the corner of his eyes, Law saw a note being passed to you from your front. Without looking at what was written down, you crumbled the paper and left it in front of you, shocking the girls around you. One of them watched the teacher, hoping to be left undetected, and snatched the note from your desk. “Hey!”

“Miss (l/n).” Everyone winced at the tone of the teacher’s voice. “What was on that note.” He asked, walking towards your desk. Law saw your eyes growing wide and dart around the class.

With a defeated tone, laced with annoyance, you sighed and said: “I don’t know, sir.”

“Miss Jones, please give me the note.” Jasmine frowned, but complied immediately, dropping the crumbled note in his hands and looked away from your side. “Read it out loud, miss (l/n).” The teacher held out the note in front of your face, his eyes demanding as they looked at you pointedly.  With shaking hands, you grabbed the paper and gasped, your hand almost covering your lips. “Well. I’m waiting, miss (l/n).” Law saw your eyes darting towards one of Bane’s gang, who only grinned in response.

“W-why bother still walking around the earth when you’re a-.” A shuddering breath escaped your lips and you closed your eyes for a short second. “A waste of time and effort, Trafalgar. No one would miss you anyway.” Law saw Penguin and Shachi flinch at the words, shooting glares your way, not knowing it wasn’t you who wrote it. Law’s stomach dropped at the words. They simply confirmed his assumptions. His hands clenched to fists, nails digging in his skin as your voice, a new voice for in his head, echoed what you said. Everything was silent, save for a few snickers directed towards Law. The teacher frowned disappointingly at you, your hands trembling before you threw the note on your desk, getting up and receiving everyone’s stare. “Fuck you, Ritch.” You growled, causing Law to lift his head.

“Miss (l/n)! Language!”

“I don’t care! He should stop doing these things. Every single one of you should stop it.” Your finger pointed to every person in the room. “And you, sir, should stop acting so innocent. You of all people should stop bullying to this degree. You and every other teacher are a piece of shit if you can’t see this happening, turning a blind eye every time I point it out to you. Cowards.” Your outburst silenced every single student, redirecting their wandering stares at you again after the pointing of your finger. The teacher in front of you turned red in anger. His lips were pulled back in a sneer.

“Out.”

“Gladly!” With that, you grabbed your backpack, walked away and slammed the door after throwing a menacing glare at the others.

“You don’t have to come back.” The teacher yelled, maybe hoping to raise his voice enough to reach your retreating form. Ever so slowly, voices filled the room, whispers of what you did, of what you accused them of. Law blinked back his shock as he looked at his friends, mind filled with questions that would remain unanswered. ‘Why would she defend me? Why would a cheerleader defend me?’ Slender brows furrowed as Shachi and Penguin refused to meet his gaze.

‘What?’

Several classes had ended and Law had survived another day at school. There were only stares, no words thrown at his form. It made him feel conscious. Grey eyes trailed over the corridors, looking for Bane or Ritch, as they would start the troubles they caused him. Finally, he recognized the mops of blond and black hair near a couple of lockers at the end of the corridor. Their laughter was boisterous and others flinched hearing it as they walked passed, not wanting to know what they were talking about. “So, a little bird told me you went against our methods. Is this true, sweetheart?” Law heard Bane ask as he tried to walk by swiftly and undetected. “Oh, don’t by like that.” Bane said huskily before a growl erupted from his chest and his hand wiped something from his face. “You filthy bitch.”

Slap.

Law halted in his steps, looking who dared to hit Bane from the corner of his eyes.

(y/n).

She held their gazes like she was untouchable to them, a glare fixing them on their spot. Bane lifted his hand to hit her back, Ritch holding her arms up against the metal lockers. Still, she wore a smirk, patiently waiting for the fist to land on its target. The movement was short and unpredicted by the two males. Law winced at the sight of you kicking their groins and swiftly escaping their grasps. Grey eyes locked with (e/c) and without a second thought, Law ran after you out of the building. Outside, Law’s eyes narrowed due to the harsh light shining through the clouds. Shielding them from the sunrays with his hand, Law’s eyes darted around the court and found you as you just ran around the corner. His legs moved without thinking, his ears finally catching the voices of your victims behind him. Running away from the building, kicking up some dirt, Law caught sight of you once more up ahead the street, having crossed the street already.

The ravenette wasn’t used to running that much nor for that long. Before long, Law was out of breath, gulping for air like a fish on the shore. His legs hurt, pain burning through his nerves. His footsteps thudded on the pavement loudly as he passed passers-by, them jumping aside most of the times or yelling after him to watch out. As much as Law actually hated P.E. because of most comments that were made, he forced his legs to go further, his mind repeating only one question over and over again. “Why?” Not to know the reason for why you were running. Hell, even he would after doing what she did to who she did it. No, he wanted to know why she was the only person who would help him out. The only one to stick out their neck for him. He had only now started to believe the words that were thrown his way, almost even acted upon it and now, you happened. Sure, he knew you were one of their clique, a bully yourself maybe, and sure, it could all be a show, a trap to lure him in, but the words you yelled in class, the look in your eyes were sincere. One would think you had been treated the same way as he did, but Law couldn’t be too sure about that.

His feet came to a slow jog, grey, stormy eyes searching for that black coat you always wore. You were nowhere to be seen. Trees were all around him, making him realise, he had been running towards the park where a lot of people were walking around as the sun was still out there. Law turned around, looking back to where he came from. His breathing was ragged, his throat hurt from his greedy intake of air. His left side stung and quickly, Law placed his left hand upon that specific place. Huffing, Law waited until the pain subsided before tracing back his steps. Maybe you had taken a different turn somewhere or maybe he just wasn’t fast enough to keep up with you. Whatever it would be, he had lost sight of you and you were just gone. “I could ask her tomorrow.”

Lovely work as always!

I was bullied quite a bit during middle school, it was all verbal though since teachers were serious about physical violence; and who wants to challenge a 6'4" girl with a nasty temper to a fight anyway? I asked the teachers for help to make them stop (the idiot classmates always teased me about the crafts I made and made fun of my name cuz it was in a theme song of this old TV show) but they didn't do much.

I was also picked on in high school but to a lesser degree. This one time in my math class (twas a small class) this guy squeezed an empty plastic water bottle in my ear (mind you I was already in a bad mood) and I slammed my hands down on my desk, screamed "FOR THE LOVE OF MOTHER FUCKERS" and stood very menacingly over him. If my friend hadn't stood in between us I would have likely punched him. After I left to go take a walk the guy said that he thought he was gonna die, he knew he screwed up instantly. My friend also told me the guy had this look of fear on him that she had never seen before. Honestly I think the entire class learned that day not to make me mad. This other time it was lunch and I was talking to the same friend and this guy (different guy from the previous story) walked up and asked me on a date. Apparently my friend knew him and shook her head at me but I very stupidly said maybe. The guy went back to his friends and they started laughing. I didn't care much but it still kind of stung. My classmates talked about it and they told me not to worry about it cuz the guy was an asshole.

Thank you, dear~!

Verbal can hurt a lot too though, mostly even worse than physical.
I wouldn't.. I'm small xD
*humpf* Stupids.

I now know I shouldn't get on your bad side.
Good to know.
Well, that guy really is an asshole. Why would guys being so mean to others when it isn't necessary?
It's stupid and idiotic in my eyes at least. Why would you make someone's life misserable? What would you gain from it? Seeing them suffer? Well, I hope Karma gets back on them ._.

You're welcome

I have a thick shell verbal can only hurt me if I actually care about other's opinions.

I dunno why people are mean to others, it's moronic. According to my pagan witch friend, if you hex someone you can expect x3 karma back; so I'm thinking along those lines that all the people who've wronged me and I never did anything bad to them have had x3 worse karma than they dealt me.

Heh I was lucky, grew up in a school where everyone knew everyone and there was more or less no bullying. Granted I didn't pay that much mind, there weren't enough people to hide bullying. One guy tried to pick a fight (though apparently that's a guy's way to flirt or something...) and I shut him down with a simple sentence and went back to reading. Which basically means I'd have my tail kicked in a bigger school because real bullies probably wouldn't put up with a one line shut down followed by being ignored.... good work though

Lucky indeed.
What.. wait.. how is bullying a kind of flirting..?
It would, yes. Ignoring a bully isn't always the best thing to do.
If they think what they were doing first isn't enough to catch your attention or hurt you enough, they tend to go further.

Thank you~ :3

Apparently there's something about if a guy does a mean thing to a girl that isn't physically damaging just taunting it means he likes her or something.  And I didn't do "nothing"  I just outsmarted him and he left lol

Eh yeah, there's a saying here that's exactly that xD
"Meisjes plagen, kusjes vragen" -> "Teasing girls means asking for their kisses" or something along those lines.

Good job ^^
