Whew, I'm finally finished with my app--I really hope I get in... And good luck to all applying, please wish me luck too! I'll need some, I'm sure
Oh, and I apologize for the different level/style of art on each side of the app--thats the difference between me hand-drawing the lineart and only using a tablet.... XP

Travelling Merchant Dealing in Beads, Bangles, Frills and Finery, and Odd Jobs Extraordinaire!
(Simplified: Merchant and Jack-of-all-trades when needed)

Pet: A scruffy female grey cat named Maeve. Half of her left ear is torn off. She is very loyal to Airi, but distrustful of most others. (Will draw her later.)

Talents:
Cooking--cooks for herself a lot during her travels, and likes good, edible food! She loves getting a new recipe to try out.
Drinking--can drink with the best of them, and yet even when she is very drunk she can pull a blade against you in an instant if you try to steal from her. Tries not to drink often though--she hates the hangovers and doesn't want to die early from organ shutdown and whatnot.
Adapting--can adapt to all sorts of situations and environments. She might have always had this skill, but she figures she learned it from how she grew up.

Personality:
Observant--she can find high quality items easily, and generally can read gijinka well, too. To survive on her own like she did, she needed to watch out for herself. Of course this has led to some trust issues, too.
Selfish and possessive--What she has is hers. She doesn't tolerate theft, but also the selfishness extends to other parts of her life. She is much less likely to help others if it doesn't benefit herself.
Social--Though spending a majority of her time on her own, Airi hates being alone. She does not stay in the wilderness for more than a day or so at a time and much prefers cities because there are more people to interact with. So essentially, it's always a push-and-pull between the distrust and need to be around others.
Competitive--Will take on almost any challenge (even sort of stupid ones) and doesn't like losing. Won't gamble with money though. She is strong too, which helps when she's tasked with something physically difficult and she won't give up.
Easy-going--Despite her other attributes, she loves a good time, and traveling to see new sights. She accepts most change with relative ease. A good conversation or joke can put her in a great mood. She tries not to let negative things get her down.

History: A pegasus gijinka born and raised in Emerald City, Elavernis, Airileis always had a free spirit. Currently, she travels between all 4 nations, spending the most time in Risohli and Elavernis.

When Airileis was only a toddler, her parents died in an accident. Until she was 11, her older brother saw to raising her. She started learning to cook at about age 7 since she really couldn't stand the inedible bricks her brother made, and they could not afford to always “eat out.” When she was 11 though, her brother disappeared. The rumor was that he had gone into the Alave Forest, and after a while he was assumed dead, so Airi had to survive on her own. She sold the tiny house she lived in for a small sum (she was in the poorer side of the city) and with that and a pitiful inheritance, she went and rented a room closer to Oak Bazaar. She had grown up around the bazaars and markets anyway, and felt like taking part in trading.

Airileis had a good eye for quality, so once she learned the tricks of the trade in haggling and bargaining in about 3 years she amassed a small fortune. However, she was still very young, and was attacked by robbers on her way to the Snowfall Bridge area in Lumeria. She barely escaped with her life, let alone any money. Because of that she began practicing knife-wielding and became quite skilled with it. She trained her instincts and reactions to a "T" as well, so no one could sneak up on her. She also no longer trusted others much after more run-ins with thieves.

Life was a lot of the same for some years after that, but around 17, Airileis ended up using magic twice and adopting a cat.
The first time she used magic was when a childhood friend, also an orphan, fell sick with a possibly deadly fever. Since the friend had a naturally weak constitution and Airileis a strong one, Airileis prayed to the gods to take most of the sickness from her friend and transfer it to herself. Her magic allowed this to happen, but with a major fever and a small(er) drain from using magic, Airileis had a painful, bedridden rest of the week. Her friend recovered from what was left of his original fever in about a day or so.

The second time was about nine months later, when Airileis came upon a middle-aged gijinka woman who had been robbed and beaten to an unrecoverable state on a little-traveled road. As the woman lay dying, Airileis talked with her. When both realized it was too painful for the older woman to continue living and there was no hope of recovery, Airileis prayed and used magic to ensure the woman immediate sleep and a numbed and painless death. Airileis promptly passed out for a span of about a day and a quarter. She awoke to find an ash-grey kitten mewling at her for food. It had been the woman's, so Airileis called it Maeve, after the kitten's late owner.

Maeve follows Airileis everywhere when Airileis is in Emerald City and thereabouts. Occasionally Airileis brings the cat on travels with her.

When sales are low, Airileis does whatever work she can find.

Additional Info:
Is a top-class knife wielder and thrower, doesn't necessarily consider that a talent, just a necessity (though isn't her cooking the same? 0__o )
Loves collecting baubles, beads, crystals, and knocked out fangs from defeated would-be bandits--she adds them to her bracelets and necklace.
If it's evening and you don't know where to find her, check a tavern or bar--she might be swapping stories or having a drink.
Lots of friends, but few (if any) very close ones.
Loves music, but cannot play it herself. Quite bad at singing too. As in reaaaaally bad.
The only jewelry she is ever sure to wear is her random bracelets and necklace--she has an odd attachment to them-- the rest changes semi-often.
The knives she uses always change--she often sells and replaces them. She will even sell the clothes off her back if it's to make a profit (of course, she'll wash them first).
Loves warm baths.
