Description Hi,

More fanart for this show and the 11-year-later-AU-thingy.
May I introduce, the new main trio and their answer to the question: "Who is your favorite counselor and why?" (Kara totally didn't pay attention long enough to get the last part of the question though).

Kara: Firstborn daughter of Gwen and David, 10 years old and most of the time EXACTLY like her dad, aka a piece of literal sunshine - she also inherited the title "bane of Max' existence" from him. Her love for vampire/werewolf romance, fanfiction, matchmaking, shipping and her surprisingly well leadership and management skills come from her mom though. Almost everyone, campers and counselors, love her. But for some (to all but her unexplained) reasons she admires Max the most. She has made it her goal to prove he's a good person on the inside and won't stop until she did exactly that. To sum it up, to her he's the, most of the time mean but actually super cool, older brother she never had. He pretends to hate her (he also frequently calls her 'little sh*t' like her mom used to call him) but would probably die to protect her when it came down to it.

Lucas "Luce": 11 years old former bully whom Kara made friends with on her first day at camp. She taught him bullying weaker people is not the solution and helped him engage in wrestling and material arts instead, to get rid of all his spare energy (and cussing, that is, he does it all the time). He loves Nikki out of the counselors the most since she loves activities like that too. He will still beat up anyone who hurts his friends, Kara couldn't convince him reasoning is a better way to solve interpersonal issues yet (she's working on that). Also, ever since she came to the camp, he has a huge crush on Amy (he is too socially awkward to tell her or ask her out though).

Amy: A 10-year-old girl who signed up for literature camp to have some alone time from her 7 older siblings but found friendship instead. She's really socially awkward, a total bookworm, has pretty low self-esteem and is super introverted but a genius at puzzle solving and math. She is also super polite most of the time and will absolutely remind you to mind your language if you happen to cuss, even if you're a counselor. Her favorite counselor is Neil since he encourages her talent for puzzles and shares her passion for math and science. She shares Kara's love for fanfiction and Luce's inability to make friends like a normal human. She came later than them to the camp and they decided to make it their goal to show her just how cool people and social activities can be (they succeeded). You never see her without either a notebook, puzzle or book and she is super reclusive at first, but if you mess with her friends she WILL b*tchslap you (and probably apologize afterwards).

Oh and yes, Kara is the biggest LUMY shipper there is (she's also trying to get them together but failing miserably - she's still her mom's daughter after all). Also, to complete the picture, Max watches from the distance and facepalms.

Pretty sure I'll draw more Camp Camp fanart soon, if you have any ideas for other campers/stuff that could happen/just headcanons for this AU, feel free to comment and tell me!

LG,
Rin

AH! SO CUTE!
Why am I imagining a scenario where Max saves Kara (and the other two but his focus was on Kara) from some massive threat and plays it off as "they'd shut this place down" and "your mom would fucking kill me" but Kara's just grinning because he just proved her right? Also Amy letting out a cuss bomb (under completely justified circumstances) and the ENTIRE cast just STARES at her.

Ohhhhhh me likes both those headcanons, they're awesome!! I mean, she HAS to get the idea Max cares about her from SOMEWHERE right? Her dad does count but she should probably see for herself so maybe this even happens really early on!
Also, Amy + cussbomb is a hilarious thought (Luce be like "I'm so proud right now, THIS is why she's the girl of my dreams!" in his head)
I am glad you like the new characters^^

I'm not sure what it would be if it was early on; maybe a bear attack or something? If it was later, I could see it being Daniel or at least his cult, leading to a "You people again? Not my fucking kids!" with Max not realizing what he said until after the danger's passed. Or it could be both with the last one leading to a "I...tolerate you brats. Happy, Camp Girl?" (I have a head canon that people fit into 3 categories in Max's head, hate [most of the world], tolerate [David (as much as he won't admit it), Gwen and the rest of the campers, both past and current] and like [Neil and Nikki pretty much encompass that one]; the word "love" tends to make him uncomfortable and while he can move past it, it takes a LONG time).
EEE! I am with Kara; I totally ship Lucamy!
I tend to like next gen characters with warm relationships, even one-sided ones like Kara's adoration of Max. It doesn't hurt that your characters continue the theme of found family which is the reason I'm in the fandom for "Camp Camp" and am planning on watching the show.

Why can't Daniel reappear early on? He could totally (because that's a cool idea). Also, Max saying "Not my fking kids" is canon in my AU you can fight me on that.
3 categories in Max' head is canon too, BUT (especially after Parents Day) I think Gwen and David (and also Kara now) were transferred to the like-category (even though Max would probably rather die than admit it).
Well just as much as Max is David's and Gwen's son he is Kara's brother^^ It aaalll makes sense^^ (Family theme is really adorable in this show, agreed).

True. It just seems like having him appear during the "season opener" stage would be a little much in tone...actually scratch that; starting off with a bang would be AWESOME. And Max would say "my fucking kids" period; I have this interesting head canon that he'd make an awesome dad, just not necessarily one who's married (Nikki gleefully acts as the mom regardless of her feelings towards Max and the other campers, Neil included, act as the varying-degrees-of-crazy aunts and uncles).
Admitting he openly likes his might-as-well-be real parents and their annoying daughter would only be something Max would willingly admit if he was legally adopted and even then...

Let's be honest, whether it be Gwen and David or Max, Nikki and Neil - the counselors are ALWAYS the parents to whatever kids are at the camp^^
In case you know the term tsundere, I believe that sums Max up pretty well (and no, probably not even if they adopted him for real)

This is true. And most of them needed it even if Max's situation was the worst.
Male tsundere is a perfect description for Max.
On another note, is it wrong that I am having tons of possible ideas for an actual fanfic series based on your 11 Years Later? It wouldn't be something I'd be able to start right away if you were okay with it but I definitely have some ideas.

Nope that's not wrong at all, it's really cool actually! And if you wanted to you could definitely write a fanfic for this AU! But if you don't mind, let me read it before you post it and maybe make suggestions or stuff like that. Also, pls credit me for the idea but other than that - HAVE FUN!! Maybe we could even work on it together, sth like an OS collection with each OS equalling an episode...?
Got any ideas for stuff I could draw for this AU too? Because I really want to draw this AU but I don't know what exactly...

Maybe. I'll let you know when I get to the planning stages and I have no issue with you reading over it.
Maybe draw some pictures of the rest of the new campers or the other original campers? Because maybe they wouldn't be part of the every day going ons of the camp but not only would it be interesting to see where they are in this AU but they actually play a role in one of the ideas I have for the first season's opener and finale.
Said opener basically unfolds as we discussed with Daniel showing up and Max saving "his fucking kids" from the now even more unhinged cultist. Daniel gets arrested but as he's taken away, he swears he'll return; Max laughs it off as cliche but Kara and Amy exchange an unnerved glance. It quickly gets swept away save for a brief mention as Neil sees an article about Daniel's escape, which Max dismisses as not worth worrying about and life goes fairly slice-of-life. Then comes the season finale when, in a parallel to David's breakdown, Max finally upsets Kara to the point that she calls him a heartless bastard and runs off, quickly loosing Max. A search starts up but when Max finds Kara, Daniel has her and demands his old nemesis trade himself for the girl. Max agrees and Daniel abandons his hostage in the middle of the woods. Some time later, Nikki and Neil find Kara and end up recruiting their old camp-mates and councilors on a rescue mission. Neil ends up staying behind to watch the kids and Amy acts as a distraction so Kara and Luce can sneak off with the other adults (Neil reacts to this with an odd blend of exasperation and nostalgia). Long story short, the rescue is successful, Max and Kara reconcile (as only he can) and someone makes a crack about crazy family.
The series would kinda have mega plots for "season openers" and "season finales" and the rest of the "episodes" would be more slice-of-life. Exactly what would happen would probably depend on who else is at camp.

OMG I loove the ideas for opener and finale, please feel free to write them! I do have a request for an episode though, which is a new Parent's Day. It should probably be an early episode (3-4?) because, just you know, David and Gwen don't know Max and the team are counselors now (they just started the job the same year Kara came to camp) and only on parent's day they find out.
Who owns the camp btw, now that Campbell is in jail (which he still is, btw)?
I should probably draw new campers before you start writing it (in case you wanna discuss more episode ideas etc pls write a note that way I can keep track of it more easily) so that you have something to work with^^ All I know/have thought of for the others is that Harrison and Nerris are definitely in a relationship. I will think of more later. Any other pictures you'd like to see?

UniversesCollideInc In reply to DarkPrincess116 [2018-08-04 16:35:59 +0000 UTC]

I definitely want a Parent's Day episode though I'm not sure when I'd put it in. It would also sow some seeds for a later plot where Max's parents' mistakes (which I'm still deciding) catch up with him and it's up to the campers to save him. After getting over the shock of who Kara's councilors are, David and Gwen start reminiscing about back in the day and while Kara's questions go unanswered, there is a reference to "going out for pizza like old times", which quickly makes Kara suspicious.
Max probably owns the camp now and that actually makes me wonder if it would be interesting to have a Campbell heir show up out of nowhere who's none too pleased that some snotty upstart is in charge. Things go down and Max unintentionally commits murder.
My only suggestion for the new campers is that there needs to be a theater kid so there can be Preston jokes. And I will note you once I'm ready to get started.

I have a few theories about the other original campers' futures. Not necessarily romantic (though I could see Nikki and Ered having a casual long-distance relationship) but more careers. Like Harrison probably got his magic under control and is a stage magician while Nerris writes D&D style novels and runs a hobby store (though she does moonlight as her husband/boyfriend's lovely assistant). Nurf teaches self-defense and is a child's advocate. Preston of course works in the theater circuit, both acting and writing and has enjoyed moderate success though he's known for fractured fairy tale retellings. Ered is a mechanic who can fix just about anything if you have the cash. Dolph and Space Kid are rooming together (could be either platonic or romantic) after Dolph's father kicked him out for choosing to pursue his art; Dolph works mostly on commission while Space Kid ended up being a science teacher who runs a space club at his school.
Feel free to use anything you think fits.

As for what I'd like to see, maybe the proposal between David and Gwen or what Harrison and Nerris look like as a couple?

Hoo boi I am looking forward to your fanfic... And sorry, no theater kid cause I have made up campers already (a film kid though).
Max runs the camp - ALL MY YES, the heir thing is not my favorite idea of yours though... unless they turn out to be a fake one and the kids wanna find a way to prove that but Max beats them to it and exposes them himself (like he always does). Maybe it can even be a beautiful lady who tries to get Max to give her the camp by flirting with him (it doesn't work obviously).
Nah, Ered is like a big sister to Nikki, nothing else really. And tbh, I don't really wanna include any non-straight relationships anyway because I generally don't ship those, it's just my personal preference, not meaning to sound rude or anything either. I like your profession headcanons though, feel free to use them!
Imma go draw a group pic now, with all the campers and the counselors!
Also, please let Kara find out about Max's past at some point, maybe in the finale. It'll make her love him soo much more.

Film kid sounds great actually! Jokes about keeping Preston away from them would abound but ultimately Preston would probably end up being the kid's mentor by email/letter.
The heir is probably going to be fake but I'm not sure which way to go about it. Which do you like better? A) The "heir" is Campbell's kid/relation but he had no idea they existed so they wouldn't have inherited anyway or B) The "heir" is a former camper and utterly delusional? I do like the idea of them being a pretty woman and flirting with Max though; I'm starting to feel this version of Max at least might be ace/aro. The kids' attempts to stop her mostly amount to Home Alone Antics but Max ends up needing to save them all when she snaps.
Not an issue; my ships are all over the place and I get that not everyone likes certain ships (like I REALLY don't like Preston/Nurf because of the domestic abuse in the egg episode). Gwenvid and Harrison/Nerris are the only ones I'm set on for now (Lucamy doesn't count because that's still Puppy Love stage); Dolph/Space Kid isn't romantic as Space Kid isn't interested in romance (just space and his students) and Dolph is kinda in an almost hyper heterosexual state due to the trauma of his father trying to push him into "manly" pursuits (not in a creepy way but in the sense of he's going on way too many dates for his own good and not really thinking about what he wants out of a relationship) and everything else is up in the air right now. Might have Ered be Dolph's mentor at some point though; I'm liking the idea that after the first arc, the other original campers just drift in and out of the story at random times because they want to make sure nothing happens to their Max but they don't want to be obvious about it. Max is well-aware of what they're doing but as long as they remain in "just happened by" mode, he doesn't care (and secretly it's nice that they all still care).
Oh; Kara is finding out. And there's this big to-do where she tries to get her parents to make Max her official brother. Might end up making the arc with Max's parents and their past the last big one even if Parent's Day comes much earlier so we can end on the heartwarming chaos that would ensue from Kara trying to get her parents to adopt Max, David agreeing with her and saying they should have done it sooner, Gwen and Max calling them both "fucking idiots" and the little brother laughing his head off as he remarks "I fucking love this family" ("LANGUAGE!"/"SHUT THE FUCK UP!"/"IT'S NOT LIKE THAT!").

I like idea B) more, she maybe idolized Campbell way too much and even though he never gave her a reason to, just assumed she was his heir.
Uhh....to be completely honest I WAS looking (and still am...) for someone to ship with Max but there's no girl on the show that would be good enough for him (in both my and his eyes). She'd have to be at least close to his mental level, if not the same, a rival from a different camp or so. Like a hate-love thing (I'm a hopeless sucker for these). Cause, you know, he DOES need and deserve love... romantic love too. I thought of making an OC to ship with him but that'd be kinda weird, making an OC JUST for the love story...right? Or do you have an idea?
Yeah...well, even though he's too old to adopt now they can still invite him over to family meetings and holidays like Christmas (headcanon: Max has a huuge drawer - comparable to Gwen's drawer of job rejections - full of unopened invitations to family occasions from David and Gwen, Kara still has to find out and MAKE him come after all!)

God, this is turning into an actual thing, isn't it? I love it when silly ideas that never meant to be anything important or big whatsoever just do this and suddenly become big beautiful projects^^

So crazy girl all grown up who tries to flirt with Max and fails miserably. That works perfectly. And for added creep, she looks uncannily like Campbell. That way, "she's his kid" can be thrown out as a theory even if it isn't true.

Hmm...maybe we could give Ered an adoptive sister who her dads took in some time after canon? Max and the others never met her because she spent a lot of her youth sick and in and out of hospitals so she's making up for lost time. She comes in partway through the story and Kara immediately gets shippy feelings about her and Max but, for once, is smart enough to keep that a secret; unfortunately, this just makes it look like this new girl is Kara's favorite now and Max...doesn't like that. Kara is HIS little shit and no two-bit wanna be counselor is going to take that away from him. And the new girl just has this smirk on her face every time Max sasses at her and privately muses "So that's how he plays this sort of thing...This is gonna be fun." so she alternates between "stealing" Kara so Max will pick a fight (doesn't hurt that the girl is damn adorable) and none too subtly flirting to throw the poor guy for a loop. Of course, she and Kara team up against "Campbell's heir" and her flirting (I am actually imagining her saying "Hi; I'm [Name]. I do lots of things around here. *points at Max* They would include him if he weren't such a stubborn ass." *Max sputters while Kara snickers*). The relationship isn't official after all that mess but literally the whole world can see that Max finally has someone who can keep up with him...and he's pretty happy about it.
The above ramble is so we can have rivalry while still having her belong. She got hired by Neil because Max made him do the paperwork and Miller is a common enough last name that no one figured the connection out until Ered shows up and remarks "Hey, Sis."
And now I almost want to name her either Angelica, after Angelica Skyler (spelling?) from "Hamilton", or Skyler for the same reference...an "So this is what it's like to match wits with a guy who can keep up." thing.

Kara probably finds the drawer before the whole mess with the past of Max's parents came up and starts pestering her big brother about it until finally he just snaps that it's none of her business and it doesn't matter anyway and "FUCKING LEAVE ME ALONE!" Kara, hurt but not as much as the last time Max totally snapped at her, backs off but starts trying to find out about Max's past (because why would anyone be afraid to let her family love them?).

Okay, Imma be honest, wile reading about your suggestion for Angel Angelica (totally using that name) I was constantly screaming "FINALLY FINALLY SOMEONE UNDERSTANDS WHAT I LIKE". It's perfect, there's nothing else to say. BUT to make one thing clear, Max IS still smarter than her. Nobody in the show is smarter than him and I'm not about to change that. She's close but not quite there. Also yes, sass is her middle name. It should be more like her getting frustrated over him not the other way round though, like he's the only one who can make her lose and therefore frustrated, she's not used to someone being able to do that, that's also kinda the reason she falls in love with him (also, that is less common if you think about it). But you HAVE to use the "I'd be doing him" quote, it's literal perfection.
When will she join the councelor team though? And aren't 4 councelors a little much? Also, plz make her suuper jelly whenever someone else (heir...) is flirting with Max (other way around too though, just imagine the killer face of Max if someone dares to flirt with HIS Angel..). Them fighting over Kara's affection is awesome too. Angel can be the one she goes to whenever Max denies her something or upsets her.
Kara is and will always be #1 Mangelica shipper. And the idea the drawer is the reason she starts investigating his past in the first place is awesome.
Imma need to draw the Angel now. Also, I'll probably make a doodle page full of little scenes you can include in the fic, just to contribute to the slice of life part of the story^^
One more question, how do you like the way I designed adult Max, Nikki and Neil and the new trio? Any opinion on their appearances?

UniversesCollideInc In reply to DarkPrincess116 [2018-08-05 00:50:48 +0000 UTC]

I can get behind Max being smarter than her; he's probably one of the smartest kid characters out there and he'd only get more so. Though Angelica probably would have one area where she trumps him and that's relationships. This isn't because Max is stupid in that arena or a cold fish or anything like that but because she had a good home life while Max...didn't.
I also like the idea that Angelica has spent a lot of her life feeling stupid because things took longer for her (like maybe mild dyslexia or ADHD on top of frequently being the hospital for her asthma, which she's mostly outgrown) than other people and her classmates didn't help because she just oozed cool, courtesy of her big sis, so they had to bring her down and kill her cool before she could steal their "rightful place" in the social hierarchy. So she spent most of her life feeling witty but stupid and as attractive as Max's ability to always outwit her is, it also touches on a long standing sore spot because even the boys who call her stupid and snarked about "who'd ever wanna date a bimbo like you?" could easily be talked in a circle. Eventually she admits this to him and she is suddenly very glad she has no idea what happened to those assholes because Max wants to kill some bastards. (Side note: Ered ends up causing this confession because she pulls an unbelievably intimidating "If You Ever Do Anything To Hurt Her" speech and Max kinda wants to know why because Angelica is awesome; why is Ered so scared he'd hurt her? And when he asks, Angelica finds she can't lie to him so she tells the truth.)
I also enjoy the idea of her getting easily flustered by him with that being one of the reasons she fell in love with him and "I'd be doing him." was just as much trying to fluster him (and it worked) as it was trying to drive Heir off.
She joined the team after the disaster with Daniel's return because Neil put his foot down and said "We need at least one more councilor because if you get yourself kidnapped again, I am NOT dealing with the kids alone while I worry I'm never going to see you again!" (Whether or not Neil and Nikki are actually siblings/stepsiblings here, he thinks of both her and Max in that fashion and Max getting himself kidnapped by the cultist who nearly murdered them all back when they were kids scared him like nothing ever had before.) This ends up backfiring because he quickly realizes that if anything ever happened to Max again or if anything happened to Angelica, he would be on his own again.
Oh Angelica is SUPER jealous when Heir starts flirting with Max and not just because that's her guy but on top of it, Heir just randomly decided he's hot and is flirting with him despite the fact that Max clearly A) isn't interested and B) doesn't like it? This angel pulls a warrior mode.
Max's big moment of protectiveness is when he finds out that Pikeman/his equivalent (I'm okay with either) is flirting with Angelica despite her discomfort and the idiot quickly decides he's never coming near her again and that he'd have better and safer luck if he flirted with Nikki again. He is very wrong...
Kara totally has Angelica in her corner; Angelica always wanted a little sister but her dads decided against more than two children. Kara is quickly encouraged to call Angelica "Sis" or "Big Sis" and that drives Max crazy even though he won't admit it.
For the reason of the inspiration for "I'd be doing him" (it's a reference to the "Bones" character Angela saying that she "does facial reconstructions. And him." when her boyfriend/eventual husband was making goo-goo eyes at a pretty new face), I see Angelica as being fairly Asian in appearance though with brown hair instead of black and her eyes are VERY blue. She loves to wear pale green and has a braided ponytail with ribbons woven in it. Kara and Amy frequently end up weaving new ribbons of various colors into her braid and she wears it as a mark of pride.
That makes sense actually. Kara was trying to find ways for Angelica to flirt better (even if Mangelica was a thing by that point; just not, you know, an open thing) and ends up stumbling into a total mess.
Also I had a brainstorm on exactly how Max's family life sucked. He was adopted by a rich white couple to be their trophy Heartwarming Orphan; when Max wouldn't play their game, things went very badly, mostly additional neglect and verbal and emotional abuse but Max also has some whip scars on his back, which was part of the reason he wore the hoodie though it was primarily because the long sleeves were soothing hence why he wears the leather jacket. He ended up inheriting their money but aside from occasionally using it for camp bills, won't touch it...though I don't know what he does for a living outside of camp. Maybe investing?
I'm not sure how the above explanation of "Why Max's childhood sucked" lead into him having his "parents'" past catch up with him. Unless there was someone who thought they should have gotten the fortune over Max because he was adopted and they were related to the "parents"?
Slice of life scenes sound wonderful. I can do slice of life in writing but it's easier when I have some kind of framework because otherwise the plot will get away from me.
Oh; I very much love the adult trio and the new camper trio. The designs for the adults are amazing and the kids are beyond precious! I even have a funny thing for Kara that borrows from an idea I have for a story where David has an adoptive daughter who's Max's little tagalong: while Kara generally talks like her dad with fairly clean language, she does have one thing she does that turns out to be dirty. She tells people who are talking shit to "go bite a rubber hot dog". It escapes most people's understanding but here with Kara, Angelica eventually works out that it's her way of telling someone to go choke on a dick. Cue startled reaction from Max and Neil.

That is exactly how Angel is gonna be - but what field should she be better at? Just social stuff in general and the fact that she's more likable and has her way with the kids naturally while they're more scared of Max than they like him (except for Kara, obviously). Is that enough or can you think of anything else?
Imma probably draw her and Ered and write a reference right now, I already know EXACTLY how she looks like (sorry, she'll look pretty different from what you suggested, I already sketched her out, I wanted to make her Asian first but she looked too much like grown-up Amy so she'll look different - the ribbon thing will still work though, her hair is actually perfect for it).
Yeah, let's actually say their parents got married at some point and Neil and Nikki ARE stepsiblings, I just kinda lowkey ship the parents because it's hilarious and they would make awesome siblings.
So Angelica joins right after episode 1?
Let's make it Pikeman, he has to return at some point anyway^^ And I can totally see him flirting with any beautiful new girl in the camp.
I watched Bones but I didn't get the reference, lol (it's been a while).

I LOVE what you thought of for Max. It's totally what is canon in the AU, aside from the fact he doesn't touch their money - that seems out of character for him. I can actually see him using the money to have a better life than he used to and calling it "his parents' way of making it up to him" and it's "the least they could do". I can even see him tricking them into passing on their money to him and getting rid of them by admitting them to an elder's shelter (hence his quote from the first episode "why do you think we return the favor when they hit 70?).
Yes, he is totally investing, that's why he can afford to spend the money because he's making new all the time.
Did that help you with thinking of some way for his past to catch up?

That sounds about right. She's also technically fantastic at romance except when it comes to herself, mostly because of the whole thing with the assholes in school; as quickly as she falls for Max, it takes her a while to believe he likes her back or even could.

You're the artist and the reason makes sense. Though I do hope we can use the blue eyes even if they're not her standard color. Like Kara and Amy braid a specific shade of purple into her hair and everyone is stunned when her eyes turn a sapphire blue, Max to the point that he suddenly has to hide a vivid blush (not that she isn't gorgeous normally; it's just blue looks REALLY good on her). This actually is based on something my eyes do; if I wear a specific shade of dark purple, my eyes go from hazelish to sapphire blue.

Sibling Nikki and Neil is my jam!

She joins at the end of Season 2 Episode 1 and the actual addressing of it starts Season 2 episode 2 (Max's kidnapping and the plot surrounding it made up the two part finale of Season 1; Season 1 started off with a bang as Daniel showed up and started luring the campers off to the mansion of Spooky Island to prepare for "ascension" and once Max figured out what was up, he went into "HELL NO!" mode and Daniel was defeated though not without a promise to return. It then moved into a more slice-of-life thing, with only a single mention of the events of the opening up until the season finale where a fight between Kara and Max ends up causing her to become Daniel's hostage and him to be kidnapped; calling in David, Gwen and the other original campers meant a rescue was able to be mounted and was successful but Neil had to stay behind and keep the kids from completely panicking, which didn't help his worries). Max and Neil end up having a "private" argument about it, which includes the whole thing about Neil being genuinely scared for Max during the kidnapping, that the main trio overhears and which ends with Max grudgingly admitting that Angelica can stay. She starts the sass off by calling him "boss man" and things quickly start moving in the right direction for romance, including Kara's shipper instincts going off.

Pikeman is an idiot but a useful idiot. And at least he had the small excuse of not knowing Max and Angelica were a thing at that point. Nikki he flirted with during Season 1, resulting in him being chased back to his camp by several of her animals...he finds this less frightening and dangerous to his health than an angry Max and probably has a point.

The ship in question is one of my OTPs so I remember the exchange vividly. Also I have all but one season on DVD and my mom and I have been binging it so on top of my great memory (which chooses to cross wires at the weirdest times and on the most random things), it got stuck there.

Oh; good point. And that actually adds to my thoughts on the "real heir" bit; the guy is the nephew/niece of Max's adoptive dad and thinks that they should have gotten the lion's share of the inheritance instead of the, in their mind, pittance Max managed to arrange (it's a decent amount of money but it's not all or most). It doesn't help that Max actually got really good at investing, to the point that he got investigated to see if he was cheating the system (he wasn't and had no plans to but he does smugly claim that if he wanted to cheat the system, he'd never get caught; he totally could cheat the system but as an adult, finds the idea boring), while his cousin is a spoiled brat who never had to work for anything so their inheritance dwindled quicker than they expected. They also feel Max is an insufferable and ungrateful brat because he didn't play the "useless upper crust twit" game (as much as Max enjoys never having to worry about money, he finds the rich lifestyle boring and fake...and kinda depressing). There's also a bit of racism in there; the "they took you in to make you better and you couldn't handle that" type. All in all, cousin is a real asshole.

A couple side notes
There's going to be at least one side story that is a collection of little moments throughout the timeline that don't fit into the main narrative. Mostly involving the original cast and showing what they're up to but also little moments that were off-screen during the main narrative.
While there are only going to be straight couples, I probably am going to throw in mentions of Nurf and Preston "swearing off men" due to bad relationships. Nurf doesn't get gone into much; just mentions that the last guy he dated made him realize that while he can find men aesthetically pleasing, he is very picky about romance and shortly after that, he met the love of his life, a pretty teacher who he met when they were jointly involved in getting a kid out of an abusive situation. Preston gets a little side story where he admits to Max over coffee that when he was just starting out in theater, a director blackmailed him in a relationship; it didn't go anywhere ultimately and Max is assured he doesn't need to kill anyone but the incident confirmed to Preston that he's flamboyantly straight. I can change the Nurf thing to it just being mentioned that he's bi but generally prefers women now but the Preston idea I'm attached to since it proves his commitment to his craft (when the director got handsy, Preston told him they were through and he was going to the police; the guy claimed Preston would never work in theater again if he did but Preston's pride in his ability made him strong enough to do the report and this led to several other actors coming forward about the director's antics and got the guy arrested).
Max waits a couple years to propose to Angelica and when he does, it's a very private matter because it's something they already knew and just needed to settle.
Kara ends up convincing Max and Angelica to name their firstborn daughter Maxine, Xine for short because the little girl looks almost exactly like Max. This leads to a bit of good-natured ribbing from the rest of the crazy Camp Campbell crew about Max's ego. Xine ends up having a personality comparable to the Weasley twins, totally prank-happy and too mischievous for anyone's good but still pretty well-adjusted and very loved.

The blue eyes are definitely gonna be a thing.
Alright, I understand. What will the 1st episode of Season 1 be about though? Maybe Amy arriving at the camp and Luce and Kara making her socialize like I wrote in her short bio?
The heir thing is not a bad idea but isn't it kind of weird to have two heirs, one from his parents and one from Campbell, show up? Just a thought.
That is alright, will those "side stories" be a different story or just side chapters in the main story? I'm okay with Nurf and Preston's stories as long as they're just mentions and not really important for the plot or anything. Tbh, I don't really care about the side stories anyway, you can be creative there.
About the kid... I kinda wanted Max' first kid to be a boy, idk why. Maybe because Kara is a girl. But I guess it doesn't really matter because I doubt the story will be this long anyway, maybe he could propose to her in the very last episode.

When will you start writing? As soon as I post info about the other campers? Cause that's coming, don't worry, I just prioritized Angel today but probably tomorrow.

I do love blue eyes and blue IS Max's color after all.

That's how it starts, probably with Kara mentioning her helping Luce find himself with help from Nikki prior to Amy's arrival. A few camp activities happen, getting some of the other campers introduced. Then things start to get a little spooky when the other campers go missing. Up until Kara disappears, Max is convinced that they're just sneaking off, to Neil's annoyance because it falls on him to be the reliable one but once the "little shit" goes MIA, the searching begins in earnest (Max isn't being irresponsible; because the campers, barring Kara and Luce to a certain degree, are intimidated by him, it's common for them to sneak off to cool down and come back later. They never go far and are never gone more than a couple of hours).

The family heir bit is still in flux but I like the idea that it's someone from Max's asshole adoptive family showing up and making trouble (like maybe trying to find/make "evidence" that Max shouldn't have the money he inherited; and now I'm realizing I like the idea of this person being motivated more by "I don't want or need it; I just don't want YOU to have it") before Max ends up beating them at their own game; a sort of "breaking the last of the ties so he can start a new life with the people who matter" thing.

The side stories would be a separate story but would function somewhat like side chapters. They wouldn't necessarily be in any particular order but would be labeled with roughly when they take place, with some taking place before or after the main timeline (we will get some glimpses into the future of everyone). Nurf's story isn't important outside of bringing up his girlfriend who ends up showing up occasionally; Preston's would be strictly sidestory and is mostly just a little bonding piece between him and Max set after the mess with Heir. Max goes off by himself in the mess hall with a cup of coffee, Preston asks to join him and the pair talks for a bit. It's not mushy or anything; just meant to show that the found family bonds the other original campers have with Max are mutual.

I actually had a brainstorm for a son for Max and Angelica earlier today. He looks a lot like Angelica so he ends up named after an angel, with Raphael/Raph, Gabriel/Gabe and Michael/Mike as the possible names (I don't have a preference so we can go with your favorite). He's into martial arts and idolizes the TMNT though Donnie is his favorite because his weapon is the easiest to improvise. He's also surprisingly good at homemaking type skills, being the complete mom friend and making sure everyone takes care of themselves, including the adults, and ends up making money off of that skill set. Ered is his favorite aunt and Kara's brother his favorite uncle though he does have an affinity for Nurf.
Xine would then follow and on top of her prankster antics, is a gymnast of excellent skill. Acrobatics is totally her camp and she HATES cooking camp because she can't cook for anything (she once managed to make a hard-boiled egg explode apropos of nothing and has managed to ruin a tuna fish sandwich; needless to say, she's generally regulated to prepping ingredients). Nikki is her favorite non-family aunt while Neil, to everyone's surprise, is her favorite non-family uncle (Kara is her favorite relative period though she has a soft spot for Kara's brother too).
And finally we have Skyler, who loves to sing, draw and write. She, Kara and Amy end up being a team as adults who create very successful animated shows, many of them based on what if scenarios for Max, David and Gwen and most of which are at least loosely based on some Dadvid AU concepts I've seen floating around. Most of said shows have casts based loosely on David, Gwen and their campers but even the ones that are totally original generally end up with the same found family dynamic. Naturally Skyler is close to Kara and Amy but she's also fond of Preston, Nerris and Harrison and her best friend is Davey, Harrison and Nerris' son (they end up going through a successful Childhood Friend Romance).
Max jokes that the son is his favorite because they're surrounded by females but it's not remotely true.

I'll probably start writing or at least making notes and outlines once you get the campers all settled. Gotta know who's there after all.

And I ended up playing around with a name generator and came up with some ideas for Campbell Heir's name. Which do you like best?
Rosary
Kaige
Nylora
Savina
Satin

I like the first episode idea. Sounds fun! Also, everyone occasionally hiding from Max just because he is who he is is precious, idk why.
I'm not entirely convinced on the family heir yet, but IF we include it it's gonna be later on anyway, right? Maybe even in season 2 with Angel already present while the Campbell heir should show up earlier (season 1).
The children of Max and Angel will be a side story too, right? Cause I don't really want the thing to drag on for so long. As I mentioned in my previous reply, about to when he proposes to her. The ideas for them are cool though, feel free to use them. Also about the name, Raphael is one of my fav names of all time so THAT one it is^^
Ok, I PROMISE I'll get the campers out either tomorrow or the day after. Cause I understand how desperately you need them^^ I promise, it's gonna be good! Also diverse and different camps from those in the show (some will be the same but most won't).
Let's go with Rosary, I think it sounds about right.

Have you seen the picture I uploaded earlier of Angel and Ered? It has a bio of her and everything!
What and when will Max' and her first kiss etc be like though? Before they (secretly) get together?

I figured having the kids going off at random times being a thing that is well-established allows for Daniel disappearing the kids without Max looking neglectful or incompetent.

I'm leaning away from the relative being an heir to the same fortune as Max and more just being a racist spoiled brat all grown up who just wants to take everything away from Max, his maternal cousin (the cousin's mother and Max's adoptive father were siblings and the cousin is the heir to an entirely different family) for not acting the way he was "supposed to" (basically being okay with being a living doll that got trotted out whenever his "parents" needed to look good and being ignored otherwise). While Max has mostly come to terms with the fact that he deserved a real family, there's still a part of him that is confused about it, hence why he's been pushing Gwen and David away but confronting his cousin trying to take everything away from him, including things that don't have anything to do with the "family name" like Kara and Angelica, provides the final nail in that piece of his brain's coffin. He doesn't stop being the sassy shit he's always been but he's finally let go of the idea that family is something he wants to avoid.

Definitely a side story though I'm not sure if it's going to be a separate one from the one about the original campers and their roles in the background or not yet. I just want to have a story to dump the little bits that come to mind but don't fit in the main storyline, which does indeed end with Max proposing (and shouting at Kara for ruining the moment because of course she was spying while Angelica laughs at how unintentionally perfectly that fits).

So Raph, Xine and Skyler...weird question; how do you feel about Max taking the last name Miller? I mean he's probably using his original surname from before the adoption but that wouldn't be something he's attached to and there's no way in hell he's using his abusers' surname, even if he's totally okay with using their money.

Rosary it is then. And her surname is "Night" because that sounds spooky and jokes can be made about it sounds fake even if it isn't.

I am looking forward to it!

Oh my god! She's gorgeous! And I love the tweaks you gave her backstory; it makes even more sense than my idea.
As for the first kiss, it probably comes between Arc 2, the mess with Rosary, and Arc 3, Max's conflict with his cousin. And it's this moment where they have this awkward conversation about how much Kara ships them and how weird Rosary's flirting was and how glad they are it's over and..."Do you want to kiss me as much as I want to kiss you?"/"Do you have to fucking ask?! Yes!"

I am glad you like what I did with Angelica. Yes I tried to merge your idea with what would be the most plausible and ended up with the one I have. I hope I haven't left out anything important^^

Btw, I have an idea for a slice-of-life-episode before Angel joins, I really wanna see one like this because it's something I want to see in the show too but they didn't do it yet (maybe they will but who knows). That is one about Max' birthday. Let's say nobody but Nikki and Neil know it's his birthday and they tell the kids and everyone wants to prepare a big surprise party because let's face it, they still all love him even though he's kinda intimidating but he's really cool at the same time and they LOVE HIM. Now they have to hide it from him which they do really poorly but Max doesn't suspect anything despite that, just because he would never in his entire life assume anyone would ever go through the trouble of celebrating his birthday like that. So, in the end, he's surprised anyway and when they ask him why he says exactly that which is kinda sad and makes Kara even more curious about his past.

Also, I have the headcanon that Max has a really fancy car somewhere on the campground (like a Ferrari or sth similar) and has strictly forbidden anyone to even come close to it, ofc all the kids wanna ride in it but he doesn't allow it. BUT when one day Kara is really sad and crying and he doesn't know what to do (because nobody but him is allowed to make his lil sht cry or else...) and just drives around in it with her and she's over the moon about it but has to keep quiet or else everyone would want a ride too. And it just kinda becomes their thing, whenever he needs to cheer her up he lets her ride in the car and they maybe even talk a little. Later he probably gives it to her as a graduation present, wedding gift or something like that, because you know, he could easily buy a new one, which he probably does and he probably has multiple cars anyway.

You did a good job. It also makes the whole thing with no one realizing whose sister she is until Ered pops in and reveals the relationship even more amusing.

I like the idea and will probably use it for the opening of Season 2 with the second episode being Angelica's introduction. "Forgotten birthday" is a bit cliche but the idea of the person whose birthday it is not expecting anyone to notice or care is a fresh take that makes perfect sense in this AU. And it would certainly perk Kara's curiosity; how could anyone believe no one cares enough about them to celebrate their birthday? And it makes Neil wanting another councilor make even more sense; Max, despite his claims, clearly isn't completely in a healthy place and there might come a time when he or Nikki have to go off after their best friend while the other stays with the kids so new councilor would be useful; this ends up working out better than the "I'm not watching the kids by myself the next time you keep yourself kidnapped" part because they can just send Angelica after Max if he goes off in a funk or something like that.

That is adorable and just plain perfect.

Oh; even though you seem okay with the new direction with Max's cousin, I feel I should explain my reasoning for each of my 3 big plots. It's actually twofold.
The first part is that while the danger level escalates, the understandability of the villain decreases. Daniel seeking revenge on Max and just Max in the Season 1 finale makes sense; it's completely disproportionate and totally not a good reason at all but Max has ruined him twice now so yeah; he has a reason (Side note: The Daniel arc highlights two things about Max that are mostly glossed over the first time through but are Chekhov's Guns later during the final fight with the cousin. The first involves the jacket, which Daniel removes after knocking Max out and "graciously" tosses to Kara as a reminder that she got her favorite councilor kidnapped; when Max comes to later, he has a mental reaction of "Where the fuck is my jacket?" that initially just seems to be part of his brain coming back online but is later revealed to be part of an actual tactile issue where he doesn't feel comfortable without long sleeves. The second is Max's reaction to Daniel coming towards him with a belt in hand; instead of a standard "Oh sit!" reaction, his mental reaction is "Shit; not again..." because Daniel isn't the first person to use a belt on him...). Rosary makes no sense but she's not in her right mind so while there's no forgiveness for the things she did and tried to do, there's a bit of an understanding that it was mostly because she was messed up. The cousin is perfectly in his right mind but he thinks he's perfectly justified in doing things like locking the majority of the campers in the mess hall with intentions to set it on fire and attacking Angelica and Kara because Max was an "ungrateful brat" so yeah; there is nothing in him to understand other than he's some kind of sociopath.
The second part is actually about Max's mental health because each of the events are based on what I think are probably the most damaging childhood traumas for Max, at least in this AU.
Daniel represents a place of safety and a person of trust (the camp and David) turning against Max (and quite frankly, I'd be surprised if even in canon, Max didn't have nightmares about things going right for Daniel for a good while) as well as feeling alone and helpless; being saved by David, Gwen and most of his fellow former campers makes him realize, even if he never actually admits it, that he's not alone and he hasn't been for a while. Rosary represents the unconscious worry that he really is Campbell Jr. in every way, including the ones that would interfere with the relationships he does value, like his friendship with Neil and Nikki and the care he doesn't want to admit he has for the kids; confronting Rosary allows him to realize that he may be ruthless in business but people still matter to him. And tangling with his cousin allows him to voice exactly why and how his childhood screwed him up and finally move on (incidentally, while Nikki, Neil, Angelica and Kara do overhear his tirade at his cousin, it's only because he didn't know they were there and he admits he probably wouldn't have gotten as much off his chest if he had known they were there to hear).

I am really glad you like my headcanons, I'm looking forward to seeing what you'll write, I'm like super excited for your story that's why I want to upload the new camper piece as soon as possible.
I'm okay with the 3 big plots, good reasoning, nothing more to say about it really.

Wanna maybe talk about this somewhere else, like skype chat maybe? Idk if you have skype but it'd be more convenient for me and it would make looking at it at a later time easier.

Glad we're on the same page. Max needs therapy but would never go to a therapist so let's have life give him what he needs.

I have Skype but I haven't used it in a while and my hours at work tend to make me not like staying up late.
What are your thoughts about notes here?

That's fine with me either, I just think it's weird to write over comment replies all the time. To me comments should kinda focus on the work they're under, it's their, you know, purpose.
Notes are absolutely cool^^ Got anything else we could write about though? (You can answer with a note)
