Description Hi!

...long time no art, right? And wAIT, is that mONIKA from DDLC?? Answer: Yep, that's her

I watched a few games from my poll (darkprincess116.deviantart.com… ), that is, I watched Bendy and the Ink Machine and Doki Doki Literature Club. Both absolutely amazing beautiful games and I can't believe how much I almost missed by not watching those (oh well, I could've waited watching BATIM until the release of chapter 5 but whatever...). I need to draw Bendy and Bill hanging out at some point cause I have a feeling they'd make great pals...
Both are horror games so which one was scarier? DDLC, by FAR. I was not really scared at any point of BATIM (except for the jumpscares when I watched for the first time). But DDLC is utterly disturbing (in a good way tho). Especially when you get to the first kind-of-jumpscare at 1:30 in your bed when everything's dark and nobody can protect you...
I wonder why it scared me so much more than anything else I've ever watched... It's not like the things that happen are that scary (ok, they are, but I can usually handle that kind of stuff pretty easily). Maybe because of the abrupt atmospheric change and how it starts out cutesy and innocent and turns into a nightmare... idk.

And just you know, Monika is now one of my favorite fictional characters of all time. I really really like her and the way she acts.
[SPOILERS AHEAD, ONLY READ ON IF YOU DON'T CARE. IF YOU DO, SKIP TO THE NEXT PARAGRAPH.]
I mean, I love almost every character and game that breaks the 4th wall but this game really took that to an extreme and that's the main reason I love it so much. And to the people who say she's evil: She is goddamn not. I mean what did she do? Mess with a few FICTIONAL CHARACTERS of whom she KNEW THEY WERE NOT REAL. It's not like she killed any real people or anything... (and if killing fictional characters was a crime...well, never played a shooter game before??). She just tried to do something about her being stuck in this game that she doesn't belong in and escape her loneliness by trying to win the love of the only real person she ever had contact with. I felt really really sorry for her at the end, especially after she gives up everything she ever had by deleting the game completely just to save the player (mind you, that was AFTER he DELETED HER!)
I just had to draw Monika with 707 because they reminded me of each other in a way. I like to believe he is an AI like her as well because of the reset theory and stuff. They were both kind of hurt by the MC because Seven has to watch her play the other character's routes and Monika obviously gets deleted by him. The difference between them is that Seven has kind of accepted the situation he is in and can't/doesn't want to change anything about it while Monika actively tries to change her situation. Another interesting difference is that Seven has a route and Monika doesn't (which makes her situation even more sad, if you think about it).

[SPOILER FREE AGAIN]
I really think Seven and Monika would get along with each other very well because they would understand each other in a way that nobody else could understand them.Okay yes I do mildly ship them but pshh that's a secret okay...
And it was nice to draw Seven again after so much time (it was super fun to draw Monika as well). Maybe I'll draw them some time again?
AND: No Monika hate allowed here, I've seen so much hate on her that it made me pissed at the fandom already I really don't need more...

A crossover of Doki Doki Literature club and Mystic Messenger.
LG,
Rin

PS: Do you have any recommendations for games that break the 4th wall a little like DDLC or even Undertale? Cause I love games that do that

DDLC is also one of my scariest ranked games too.
As far as I can remember it’s the only game that’s triggered nightmares for me. Those lasted a while too.... but now I’m free and mostly numb/used to all of this XD

I believe what makes it so scary is the 0-100 turn it took from cute and innocent to terrifying. Also, it messes with your mind in making you question a lot that was normal up until DDLC (like caring about fictional characters).
Overall a very unique and one might even say revolutionary game.
You mentioned it was "one of the scariest games" to you, so what other games were scary to you?

I still have mixed feelings about Monika, but overall I still love Monika and feel sorry for her towards the end.

Even if the others are fictional, the way she brags on about her success reminds me too much of a villain constantly monologing, plus she tends to sound very vain, which is usually a turn off for me. But I kinda blame the writer for that cause I felt like it was intended for Monika to act like that, goading the player into deleting her. I think her afterstory mod did her justice though.

Not sure if there is one myself, did you try downloading the mod for yourself to play?

That's fair, it is funnier to watch others react to DDLC. XD

Frankly, Monika's as scary in act 3 as she's charming and beautiful. I never saw the signs, watching Markiplier's playthrough, of what she was doing behind the scene.
The game left so many impressions on me I've been into the fandom since the start of this year.

If Monika had her own route, she might've rivalled my darling Yuri. I see so much of myself in Yuri.. Introvert, tall, likes reading, same preference in poems...

I never actually thought of her as scary because out of all the characters I understood her the most actually, especially after she deletes everything. I wasn't really a fan of any of the others, I have no idea which one I would've chosen.
But if Monika had her own route maybe she wouldn't have done any of the things she did because in the end all she wanted was love.

It's not really her actions that frighten me, but rather that intense gaze. As she tells you what she knows and what she's done, she looks at you with stern yet confident, longing eyes. Like I wrote in one of my poems on here:

We sit by the desk, your eyes hauntingly staring into mine
Charming as ever, your gaze still send chills down my spine

That part of the game didn't scare me at all somehow. It was more the messed up stuff that happened before.
The poem is neat^^

Not really, a few indie game demos and some in a playlist play through on YouTube. There is one that’s about trolls like the movie documentary troll hunter
