Actually, this is Mecha Knuckles. It is silver, just like its brother(?), Mecha Sonic (who is referred to as Silver Sonic in the American version of Sonic 2 until the backstory for Sonic 4 came out and corrected that). Metal Knuckles was only in Sonic R.

Did you know that Sonic Advance wasn't Metal Knuckles' first appearce? He already showed up for the first time in Sonic R for the SEGA Saturn in 1997 as a playable charcher.
