Everything is good but you forgot the shadows.(rose, man and model) Here a tip for you. When the object are touching anywhere, they drop a shadow and touching point become a more darker. If you dont understand, dont hesitate

Hey,
thank you a lot for the feedback and sorry for writing back this late

About the shadows,I think you're really right,I did forget the shadow if the man,the shadow of the trees is the original shadow in the picture and about the model, could you explain please a little better how I should make the shadow?I thought I did make it :worried:

Did you update it? I think it is ok. may be you should use burn tool(midtone) (end of the skirk). But it doesn't necessary..

I really don't think there's anything wrong with the dress and this looks really great, especially considering that you're new to the media
The only tip I can think of is to keep a consistent lighting througout the picture. You've got a very strong lightsource in the back, which should create dark shadows on the side of the objects that face us (like ~Shadow-Trooper mentioned for example) but it should also create a backlight effect on her hair and the edges of her dress and arm. That way she will fit into the whole scene more easily

Darkquette In reply to Raishuu [2009-02-09 17:30:27 +0000 UTC]

Hey.
Thank you very much for the critique and I'm sorry for not answering sooner but I wasn't online in the last month much and neglected my messages

And thank you for the backlight tip, that will come in handy for my next work because I flattened the layers on this one.

There's not much that I see wrong with it. The only thing I'd change is the man in the background - it looks weird that he's fully lit when the light comes from behind him. I think you should make him more silhouette-ish.

The ruffles on the bottom of the dress look.... flat, and it makes you think the rest of the dress up to the hips looks flat untill you think about it again. That all I can see wrong with the dress area that you mentioned.

As for the rose, to make it more realistic you need to shrink it down. as it is right now it is behind the girl, yet the blossom is bigger than her hand.

Your composition is very nice, it tends to make your eyes want to travel over the piece and take in all the little details.

Darkquette In reply to pendrachken [2009-01-14 17:42:32 +0000 UTC]

Thank you for the nice words.
The rose actually is in the same line as the model or atliest that's how I see it,why do you say it's behind ?Please tell me so I can correct it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

pendrachken In reply to Darkquette [2009-01-14 19:13:13 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, it just looks like it is slightly behind the rear of the dress. You could try reducing it ~50% and moving it to the foreground edge of the shadow it is in to make it look more like it is on the same line as her hand. also try a little bit of Gaussian blur to make it look more realistic (after reduction) you won't need much, maybe 0.6 pixel or so ( play with it though, you will find the best look yourself ) Same with the size reduction, the blossom of the rose should be about 75% the size of the models hand. Hopefully you have all the different parts on separate layers, if not try to do that in the future... it makes life much much easier.

And keep up the good work, don't get discouraged... many people wouldn't even see things like these, other than photographers and really picky artists. Believe me, there are professionals out there that make worse mistakes.

Thank you.I didn't get discouraged,I just want to find out more stuff about manips
If I'd get discouraged easily, then I probably wouldn't have joined the GF club

Unluckily I didn't keep the layers, after finishing it I flattened them
Oh well,next time

Thank you once more for making time and helping me with advice,I appreciate it!
