The same is with all the new and re-attributed works by *great* composers - THIS is what's been openly going on for the past 20 years but has otherwise been known for about 100 (yes, this awareness is that old). Right now we await new Mozart Koechel catalogue (they promised it at the end of this year), the old one has shaven off of him about 30 works - now it's not 626 works by Mozart any more ~ but 598. On the other hand new old compositions surface every now and again so ... something lost, something gained - it's a field most flexible!
