Description

This was just something that happened.

I mean, I always draw my self insert/sona with my idealized version of a partner, but what if I was with someone who wasn't exactly what I wanted... Especially if this someone was truly interested in me and really wanted to spend time with me?

After all, I'm all about learning to deal with the cards that are dealt to you.

Although I do admit that this picture is rather stereotypical and rote. It's a very tired trope in a lot of fantasy (especially urban fantasy) to have some conventionally attractive woman with a big ugly monster guy. In fact, this may be very well why I often pair myself off with what you usually see...

tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php… <--- The tired and true trope.

tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php… <--- The subjective addition to the main trope.

Do you perhaps want a little insight onto why it's often difficult for me to try to write up a story of any kind? And perhaps stick to just one form or idea?

Imagine if you will that you have a character, oh let's say he's a big guy who on the outside appears to be a lot of fun to hangout with and is quite strong, but deep down struggles with overcoming a past of being abused and used by his own family, and seems to dwell on his mistakes in the past as opposed to being "ready for the future" like he claims to do. You want to tell a story with this particular character, a romantic story to be precise, and you have three possible partners...

One's the sort of good-times kind of pal. Everyday with them is like a little adventure, and you don't know what to expect from them. However, they can never truly understand what regret is like; not because they don't care, they just simple never were in a position to which they had to experience such things.

The second one still lives with their family and deals with the family business, and you've known them for a long time. Sure the family might have some issues, but in comparison to what our big guy grew up with, it's nothing severe. If anything, he's probably jealous of such of this potential partner having a family, that he wouldn't understand what it's like to be pressured by ambition and expectations as the potential partner experiences.

Then there's the third option presented here. On the surface, they're complete opposites to one another, but after a while, they reveal themselves to be similar. This partner has had a life very similar to our big guy in question, but how they came to cope with it is very different.

Thus, when you think about these things, that can open itself up to several different stories with different focuses. All the opportunities presented are all equally good ideas... But you can only focus on one. And that's what makes it so difficult.
