One year and a few days ago (sorry I missed the right day), a tragedy happened. Altai was shot after a zookeeper forgot to lock him properly before entering the tiger enclosure. I haven't forgotten this young big boy, so here is a last photo of him which I upload.Zoo Cologne
The son of Altai named Jegor mated with his mother who recently gave birth to three cubs.

Well Altai had a son and two daughters with the tigress Hanya. It happened that his son Jegor has "replaced" him for a short time which was a big surprise for the people. His son mated with his mother, who recently gave birth to three cubs. Male tigers in that age usually can't do that but he was very early ready. So that Hanya has cubs again, there won't come another male during the next time. Let's see what happens with these incest cubs.

I'm curious as to what happens with the cubs too. Young tigers are always an attraction, but they won't be able to breed with them, so what zoo would want to have them...?

I don't see a big problem there because one generation of incest usually doesn't have the genetic defects. The problem with incest comes when it is continued through more generations so these tigers could be treated like every other tiger. So lets see and hope the best.

Yeah it is but this zoo is full of not so good storys. This happening, a cheetah that escaped it's enclosure, the leopardess killed the male (the people at the zoo should have noticed that she wasn't ready), incest and maybe more. All this during a bit more than one year.
