Description          This is the story of Maria, a lone schoolgirl with bright blonde hair, some glasses, and a keen eye for observation. She had a fascination with spiders. She loved looking up pictures of spiders, and even kept people from clearing the cobwebs in her room. One day, during school, she found a tiny box in her locker.

"Huh...?" She looked at the box, confused. "This wasn't here before..." Soon, she found herself curious about the box, as it had many spider stickers on it, like the person who left it there knew exactly what she liked. As she looked at the box, two hands suddenly covered her eyes, and Maria squealed in fright. The hands turned her around, and soon Maria's eyes locked with another schoolgirl's, Lily.

"Heya, Maria! Did I scare ya~?" Lily playfully said.

"O-oh, hi, Lily!" Maria noticed the wide grin on Lily's face. "Hey, you seem really happy today... What's going on?"

"Eh, nothing much, aside from the fact that ever since our two classmates went missing, I've been seeing more supernatural reports!"

"Oh, r-right, you like that stuff."

Lily was known around the school as "Miss Eris", and for good reason. She loved making things weird and discorded, and even publicly fantisized about a day when not just humans would walk the Earth.

"So, then, Maria, what'cha got there?"

Maria realized Lily had just asked her about the box. "O-oh, just a box someone left in my locker."

"Ooh, let me see." Lily looked at the box, prodding all around it for anything suspicious. "Nothing malicious about this one. Aw, poo."

Maria giggled a bit. "It sounds almost like you wanted there to be a bomb or something."

"Nah, not really a bomb, just... something special, y'know?" Lily looked up at the ceiling, imagining it to be a star-filled sky.

Maria took the box, as the school bus arrived up front. "W-well, I've got to go. I'll see you tomorrow, Lily...!"

"Alright, Maria! Stay gold!" Lily shot Maria a wink, as she opened the front doors to go to the bus.

When Maria arrived home, she looked at the box, curiously. "Lily... DID say that nothing malicious was there..." she thought aloud. Flipping between opening it and keeping it sealed, her spider-driven curiosity caused her to open it, revealing a bottle and an octet of glasses.

"Why are there eight lenses...?" She asked to nobody in particular. "They do look nice, though..." She put them on, replacing her current glasses. She was surprised at how tailored they were for her, and looked at the world with clarity.

After a moment, her eyes drifted to the bottle. The liquid inside the bottle was purple, and had a label on it. "Gute Nacht Dream Juice...?" she pondered aloud. Looking at the back, she found a lack of labels.

"Isn't this illegal...?" She then remembered that Lily thoroughly checked, and she was never wrong. So, in a moment of false bravery, she took a swig of the bottle, and felt a bit sleepy.

Maria woke up, lying on her back. She looked outside, seeing it nighttime, and got up on her eight legs-- wait a second, eight? She looked at her lower body, seeing a spider's lower body in place of human legs. "I-is this a dream...?" She looked at her shirt, and recognized it as spider silk.

"Spider silk...? Wait... why do I know that...?" She got on her legs, and tried walking for a bit, strangely finding her movements natural, like she'd been like this all her life. Adjusting her glasses, she turned on her light and looked in her mirror. Her spider body was similar to a golden silk-orb weaver's, and her eight eyes were a pitch black. Suddenly, she realized she could never go outside like this, as humans would never accept her. Then, a particular human came to mind.

"Lily would try to hide me... I... I know she would." She remembered a weird promise Lily made about protecting those with something to hide. Suddenly, it was all clear. Maria went out into the night, not even closing the door, and went directly to Lily's house.
