yo uso pmount para gestionar el montaje de las particiones fijas y demas, cree un script y lo agregue al archivo de programas de inicio para que lo cargue cuando inicia pekwm, los pendrives y los cds los gestiono con las propiedades de montaje de unidades de thunar y no tengo ningun poblema

es dificil largar Xfce jeje, de los D.E es con diferencia el que mas me gusta, en W.M como dices cualquiera de los *box o pekwm, de los tilling mi favorito es Dwm

the font "cure" is in the artwiz font pack, if you are running arch you can install the package with pacman, just type in the terminal "pacman -S artwiz-fonts" as root
