My lil' dude Talisen again, this time he's been brought back from death and he's PISSED as hell! (and he used to be such a nice guy...)This is so lame, but I still got the Halloween fevah!

I like the lines you have on this guy, and the background texture is great two. It gives him a kind of sexy that I could only describe as parchment....

I'd be happy to teach you! The background took me a grand total of 10 minutes to make, its not hard to create but its learning and applying the tools that take the longest!

Oh... wait wait wait... is it that the faded style background are done through Photoshop Brushes? I'm sure it wasn't the lineart.

Its a gradient background with custom brushes over the top to give it a 'vintage' look...I spent very little time on this!

Do you know about downloading brushes? The scratches and noise were all downloaded into PS6, then I used the brushes in different layers (where I have better control over them with the transform tool) then mergend and added burned/dodge all over to make them seem all uneven.
Tobe honest, I did all this elaborate scratches to hide the fact that I couldn't get his right hand right ^_^;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

Yes, I have downloaded some before, just not this kind. ^^ You used transform? I see, so that was how... I hardly use burn and dodge tools. @_@;

Actually it's not cheating - I've debated this before - burns and dodges don't make any user a cheater. In fact, they're hard to master as well. I can't use them because I can't learn them well. It takes skill to be able to use the burn and dodge tools to create an effect correctly.
It does look as nice!

lol, my digital texture/painting teacher at school would twist my arm if he sees me doing dodge and burn all the time

Thank you! My methods vary as I learn from others, but lately I've developed my own watercolor method. @_@; Before that *kidchan had given some suggestions and a tutorial, but her pallette and methods seemed too soft and bright for me. Besides that, I don't have OC.
I devised just using nothing but paintbrush to get that painty feel... but it's light and watery compared to hers, and very pale, so yes, it looks boring. (She'll probably laugh

Hands are the hardest for me, you can tell a lot about a person and how they feel just by looking at their hands. Lots and lots and lots of practice I guess
