It think it is because everything is slightly... squished... But I can understand the effect of it being Darkness is twisted and obscure...
Don't know why the moon is as well but possibly the Castle is doing it lol

Much better still has the same tall effects... which is good... I bet the inside all the stairways are upside down and of the walls etc lol one giant labyrinth
