Description a sweet moment. my identical (doctors call them mirror image) twin daughters are a reflection of each other and then they are reflected in the water's surface (another mirror image); individually and together.

i have entered this into the PhotographersClub contest "Mirrors" - you can't get much better than this in my opinion.

i really appreciate feedback & comments and faves.

Hello there! For my A2 art topic this year I'm working on a theme of reflections and your image fits so well with my title, I was wondering if I could perhaps have your permission to recreate this photo for my portfolio? I can promise that it will be done with absolute seriousness and respect (I read that they're your daughters) and I'd really appreciate your consent, especially as it's such a beautiful photo! Your daughters are gorgeous, I absolutely adore this photo!

i apologise for not getting back to you about your request to use 'a reflection of a reflection' as your subject. i have been unwell and not on deviantart for quite some time. i must say i am very flattered. yes i will give permission for this photograph to be used as long as it is done respectfully and appropriately as they are my daughters. i would only ask that, if its possible, i would really appreciate a copy that i could frame for them for their room. again, thank you for your interest and thank you for your honesty and appreciating copyright. i look forward to your reply (i will check now i know you need my permission).

First let me say, nice concept!
Second, I want to clarify I MEAN NO OFFENSE OR DISRESPECT!!!

I think I have some ideas that would clean this pic up a bit and provide more of what you were looking for.
1) reduce the lighting above the pool. Consider taking the shot in the evening if this was outdoors.
(Increase the light beneath the surface, either with flash or via other means.)
2) get the girls COMPLETELY below the surface. This will let all of them be reflected.
3) get them to stop breathing/splashing long enough to clear the bubbles from the frame.
4) with them below the surface, not playing and breathing, the surface of the pool should become like glass, giving a great reflection.

It should improve the shot for what you were attempting, a mirror squared type thing.

This is still a great shot. But to me, it conveys more of the twins joy in play, than the reflection squared theme.

Again, no disrespect intended. Hope this can help you in the future in some small way.

thank you for your feedback.i do not take your comments as offensive or disrespectful. after all the only we can improve is to take advise. this was taken at the beginning of my underwater experimental photography. i do understand all your points and the way they can improve the shot. unfortunately i have to use a public pool which causes light issues. i have since been given an underwater camera which now has quality lense and flash etc. considering this was taken on a cheap horrible $30 camera i was amazed it was as good as it is. also this was to convey the twins joy in play and in each other considering they are my children but i was experimenting with angles etc.

hopefully this summer we can practise and improve some more. again. thanks.

I must honestly say that I am not quite sure whether we are identical or not... According to the doctors who were there when we were born we're not, but we do look alike enough to be identical. I sometimes wonder if we are Mirror Twins ([link] ), because we have many 'mirrored features'. I still would like to find out someday .
I don't have a pic of my twinsis in my gallery, the people in my ID are me and a friend ^^.

the whole twin thing is incredibly fascinating. my girls were tested at birth using placenta and blood and were said to be identical. they are also mirror image in most respects - hair part slightly to left/right, teeth came in in mirror patterns. i find it extremely hard thinking they are identical because to me, and their sister especially they are nothing alike. but to others they are apparently hard to tell apart. we joke that we don't know which twin other people see do they see both of them as casey or both of them as jordy. at least for a few years people will be able to tell them apart because one will have braces on only her bottom teeth and the other on top and bottom. must annoyingly are comments made by people or the staring. i think of my girls as a double delight not double trouble.

to stop your worrying testing your 'twinness' is relatively cheap and easy these days. good luck and best wishes.

Yes, it is fascinating ^ ^. I also feel me and my sister are very different, but some people (especially teachers) could never keep us apart and we both wondered how that was possible after having those teachers for several years . Now we are both in different schools, so that doesn't happen anymore, but I always found it a bit annoying. Some people think we're just sisters though, not twins. It's strange. It does sound like your girls are mirrored, funny one will have braces on her top teeth and the other on both . It sounds like you enjoy having twins ^^.
Yes, I know it's not difficult to test 'twinness'. You made me wonder again, so we're going to have our blood tested soon ^^. Thanks!

i am so glad to hear you being a twin. i think you're right, every now and again you need to think about it a little and remember it is a gift not a curse!

You're right ^^. I've never seen being twins as a curse though, but I'm sure there are twins out there who hate each other. I cannot imagine hating my sister!
I will let you know, though I am not sure when we will have the results, as we both are busy and don't live in the same place, so it can take a while hehe .

thank you for sharing the photos with me. that's special! you do look alike but you can also see the differences. you are both beautiful. i adore that car and envy you for the cold weather - 2 weeks ago it was 46 degrees celcius, average is about 36-39 - yuk!

This is a really superb capture, and your twin daughters look gorgeous
I really love the idea of this capture, and the title
I also think the out of focus nature of this photograph adds to the charm; and it's not too bothersome!

like i said - you don't get crystal clear images when you work with cheap equipment but at least i'm trying and learning. i appreciate your comments but sometimes its more about the concept and you can forgive a little blur - no one is perfect! drop by again when i have good underwater equipment and see what i can manage then.

can you suggest anyway of making it crispier with an editing program?

sharpening in Photoshop or fireworks, but it will not do so much. You really have to get it in focus on the camera.

thanks for the comment. i agree in part but i guess that's what you get when you only have a cheap (<$30) camera to use that has no adjustable settings or focus. since i don't photoshop or alter my photos you get what you get. just imagine what i can do with a decent underwater camera and more professional equipment!

maybe you could think of it as a foggy or smudged mirror.

thank you so much for you compliment. what you see is what i saw. i don't have photoshop or any editting programs, so none of my photos of edited in any way except to slightly balance the colour. the camera used for this shot is about $30. thank you again.
