Now quick question. The original skin tone on the Original pic was tan. How come she came out whiter? Not so sure if the character is white to begin with but I'm paying a lot of attention to your coloring as well as your re-drawings and you're an amazing tutor. But I was just wondering why you didn't keep her skin in the warm tones?

Tan does NOT equal yellow. I don't have an alternate version of her to show the difference between the palette I chose and what I consider "white" on this figure, but there's a big difference. This is what I consider white: [link] or [link] <- it's a much creamier skintone that has less brown undertones than the palette I used on this one. Normally the palette I used on her would be even darker, but I was too lazy to do much shading since it's just meant to give the general idea of the palette I offered up as an alternative. The palette I chose is actually darker value-wise than the original.

You're right, Tan doesn't equal yellow. Everyone would be walking around here looking like a Simpson. I see what you're saying what you think white is, and yes that is white. When I meant "whiter" I meant she came out a few shades lighter than the original tone. It's not about making it darker. It's just that you can very much tell that she has ethnic skin. Going through ~Lartovio 's gallery I can see she knows her tones really well. I don't think she was making mistake by making her character tan, I just think you made a mistake by making her skin tone in the white ethic tones.
