Description The PowerPuff Girls had just rescued the entire town... again... and were finally taking the time to enjoy some rest and relaxation. Trouble came to Townsville at regularly, almost predictable intervals, so this was one of the rare moments the girls got to enjoy themselves and let their guards down. As it were, this momentary lowering of their defenses would cost them their minds, their identities, and their freedom before the day was through.
The perfect housewife Jacqueline, aka Domesticana, formerly the tomboy Jackie, had a surprise cooking up for them. Well, not cooking, but sewing. She held up the last of the dresses, a green frilly affair, and set it beside its matching pink and blue companions. She stood back and admired her handiwork. They were beautiful. And they would bring so much joy into the world.
Domesticana knew better than to confront the three tomboyish super-girls when they were together, outnumbering her magic three to one. Not that they could ever defeat her; but in the ensuing struggle, one or two might easily escape and be denied a new life as a real woman! She couldn't let that happen, but had found it too difficult and too risky to try to separate the girls herself. Instead, she had hand-sewn these three adorable dresses, one for each, and now was beginning the last stage of preparation. This way was certain to work. None of the girls would escape from their new roles-- their true roles.
As she tapped each of the dresses with her magic wand, they flew up into the air and hovered in front of her, as thought waiting for a command.
"Go now, my cute little creations," she said with a sugary-sweet smile and a wink of her dimples, "and bring your beauty into the lives of those stray women!" One by one they swooped out of the window, soaring on the evening breeze, toward the Townsville soccer field.
The girls were getting rowdy, rough, and filthy as they scuffled among themselves across the field. They kicked up clods of dirt and hurled them at each other even as they rocketed the soccer ball around the field with mighty punches. Suddenly Bubbles looked up and squinted.
"Uugh, guys?" she whimpered. "I think I see..."
"Dresses?" finished Blossom incredulously.
"Dresses????" said Buttercup, her voice dripping with scorn and disgust.
"Aw!" said Blossom, as her own (soon to be) dress settled down near to her eye level, "this one is blue! Just like me!"
Suddenly the skirt of the dress, opening wide, pounced upon Bubbles and swallowed her whole.
Blossom and Buttercup had no time to look in horror; their own dresses had lunged in for the attack. Blossom dodged the pink dress as Buttercup swung wildly, trying to fight off the frilly floating fabric. The blue dress seemed to be fighting to contain Bubbles, until they realized that it was merely forcing her arms and head through the proper outlets before tightening around her body. The apron strings quickly tied themselves into a knot, sealing her into the thick, fluffy skirts.
When Bubble’s head had emerged from the top of the dress, the others were shocked to see her face full of makeup, and her hair arranged in a perfect little curly do. Blossom found herself even more shocked when she flew over to help her sister, who merely giggled in reaction.
“Oh, I’m fine, silly!” said the new Beatrice. “I’m BETTER than fine! And look, soon, you will be too!”
Blossom’s jaw had dropped when she heard Bubbles’ new voice, and in that moment of distraction the pink dress was able to pounce, wrapping itself around her torso tightly.
Buttercup continued to throw punch after punch at the green dress, but the flying cloth was too quick and dodged every blow with ease. Suddenly, it bunched up, as though waiting for Buttercup to swing-- she did, and her arm shot right through a hole in the dress. In fact, her punch had shot right through the sleeve of the dress, which now rapidly tightened around her arm! With her free hand, she growled and swung again, but once more the dress caught her fist in a frilly green sleeve! She roared and struggled as, helpless, the dress slithered down over her head, which emerged from the collar with a new updo and a made-up smile.
Both Buttercup (now Betty) and Bubbles (now Beatrice) slowly flew up to the struggling Blossom, their grins sincere and frozen.
“Don’t worry!” said Beatrice.
“There’s no fighting it!” said Betty.
“No!” cried Blossom, holding her limbs away from the dress so that it could not engulf her in its folds. It did no good. The dress, suddenly, became oozing and fluid, like gel. One minute it was wrapping her up-- the next it was ON her. Blossom felt her hair wrap itself up into a cute little perm, and she realized that her name was actually Berta. She curtseyed sweetly.
“Come on sisters!” she said. “We’ve got lots of work to do!”
