"Sometimes...maybe we're better off not knowing."

Ilsa Carson, the young powered being known as Arc Light certainly did not get what she'd hoped when she reached out to find her birth mother. Calling in a favor owed her by her former mentor, Zipline, Ilsa was able to track down the woman who'd given her up all those years ago. Zipline had warned her that though she knew about her mother, the girl would be better off letting it go. Not deterred, she demanded that the meeting be set up. Going through with the meeting required entrance into a high security federal facility where many a horror, human or otherwise was kept, quickly unnerving the usually fearless, electric girl.

Descending into the bowels of the facility, she soon found herself face-to-face with the woman who had brought her into this world, Kara Herring, known as Dead Bolt to the faility staff. The meeting was anything but warm and heartfelt as Kara, scared over many parts of her body from her own abilities, trailed off on several rants and seemed not to acknowledge anything her daughter had to say. A further explanation from the staff that tended to her revealed to Arc that overuse of her electrical abilities had greatly effected Kara's brain chemistry resulting in memory loss and severe psychotic episodes. As the two are mother and daughter, Ilsa learned that she was at a high risk of suffering the same fate if she allowed her powers to outstrip her body's ability to control them. This would lead to her refusing to use her powers if it could be avoided though also led to her being extremely paranoid of showing any signs of her mind being adversely effected by them. Despite the tone of this initial meeting, Carson would find herself making several more visits in the following months without real rhyme or reason to them.
