Sometimes, a hero can come from the most unlikely of places. The world can call for a champion. A being with a pure heart to put fear in the hearts of criminals and balance the scales. This is not one of those times. Cue Matthew Menville, a kid with good intentions but his head a little too far up in the clouds. With the streets overrun with criminals, super powered and otherwise, Menville was inspired by the comic character he loved the most, Hum Drum. A hero who, despite lacking powers of his own, Hum Drum valiantly charged head long into danger with his friends to solve the city's problems.

Matthew took that to heart when he adopted the moniker and costume and set out to clean up the streets, mostly the few blocks around his own neighborhood. Stopping a robbery with pure luck...or stupidity, he believes himself a true hero who can be a beacon of hope for all, completely unaware of the true danger he is putting himself in. What he really wants more than anything is to team up with one of the big name heroes in Equestrian City. He hopes one of them will take him under their wing and show him how to be a true champion. More than likely they'll snatch him by the ear, drag him home and tell his mother.

Uses makeshift gadgets that are more annoying then effective.
Lives with a single mother who works three jobs so he spends most of his time at home alone.
Most people mishear his name as "Hum Dumb" and unfortunately it's stuck.
