Well, I worked on that image long time ago, im sure if I had to process it nowadays, the outcome would be different, and even though I agree it could get some improvements, including the noise issue you mention, I don't think it really is necessary to process it all over again!
Nonetheless, thank you for spending some time to looking at it, and writing your opinion around!

I like the result you had with the IR filter on a D70, I am asuming you havent modified your camera's sensor. I have been wanting to try IR photography myself. May I ask about how much should I expect to pay for an IR filter?

i actually cannot say how much i paid for the filter i used in this shot (Hoya R72) because i was a christmas gift.
But i guess it greatly depends on the size of the filter. This one is a 72, so i guess i was a bit expensive.
And, unfortunatly for you, by the time i was looking for IR filters, i found them to be way cheaper in europe than in the US. Don't ask me why..
Anyway, the Hoya R72 is a nice performer on the D70, but i found the Cokin 007 (equivalent to kodak's 89B) to perform better. It took me quite some time to find it (hey, but portugal must be one of the most terrible places to buy photographic equipment in the world) but it was rather cheap, around 30€ i guess (about 36 US dollars).
Actually people don't modify the camera's sensor for IR use, they just remove the filter that is in there and replace by an IR one. As i don't use my camera exclusively for IR, i haven't done that.
IR is alot of fun and you can achieve great effects with it, but it requires lots of practice and good gear (specially tripod) to master this technique.
Hope this helps, and if you need more info just note me. Probably this is terribly written, but i didn't sleep last night and it's 10 AM so i'm literaly a zombie.

Thank you!
Yes, the trees are indeed a bit purple.. Unfortunately i haven't yet mastered the post-processing of digital IR photography, so that's probably why there might me some "incorrect" tones on the picture.
Anyway, thanks again for your comment, and you're very welcome for the link. Bjorn is an excellent photographer, and you should check the rest of his webpage too.
Take care.

Esqueci-me duma coisa.

That's because the trees aren't covered by snow. This shot was made using an Infrared filter, which only lets the Infrared light pass to the sensor. If you want to learn more about this technique, be sure to check Bjørn Rørslett's excellent explanation right here .
If i'm not mistaken, it doesn't snow in Oporto for 18 years. Most of the times, people get confused when they see IR photography for the first time.
Thanks alot for you input. I greatly apreciate it.
