When I saw this I immediately thought of the House of Usher, maybe because of the reflection and the broodiness of the dark architecture; but this is prettier

Dark subject matter, and light background. No matter what you paint with that arrangement, it's always dramatic. I love using it when it "pops" in there. You used it very well here, and the color choice is subtle and great. A nice piece of work, with a definite Claude Monet flare. "Impressive!"
