You may recognise this picture if you have ever read 'Geisha of Gion' or 'Geisha: A Life', I was completely taken by her portrait on the cover, so of course I drew her!The picture was not taken in the best of lights, which I realised later, is actually in my favour because it blurs over all the mistakes. Anyway, I really like this, I hope you do too!

To me she looks like she just had some friends over and had a good time. They had snacks and laughed together, and maybe played some games. But her friends just left a few minutes ago. Now she's by herself and taking in the time she spent with them. To me the mood is relaxed, content, and reflective. Because the background is light in color, it makes me think that this moment took place in the afternoon. It would simply be a nice picture to have around in the living room when having some friends or cousins over during the weekend afternoon. It's a pleasant picture. Well Done!

Thank you! I wanted it to be serene looking, but it was quite had to get the expression right, partly because her face is at a strange angle. But I'm glad you like it!

Thankyou! It was really hard because traditionally Geisha at this stage have white collars...and who am I to change this? But I was worried that it might look like her neck was really long!
It's worth reading the books, all the pictures inside are so much more beautiful, I just really loved the way she looked quietly contented in this one.
