Description
Levy should have known the holidays were going to be rigged. Casting a halfhearted glare over at the white haired beauty known as Mirajane, she bit her lip as everyone cooed and laughed at Lucy and Natsu. The two had simply been sitting by each other until Mira snapped her fingers, and sprig of mistletoe was revealed hanging above them. Alarmed, Lucy had tried to refuse her way out of a traditional smooch but Mira’s intimidating smile and Natsu’s intoxicated joy overrode her attempts.

She watched as Natsu tugged her into a clumsy kiss that turned her best friend into a red faced blonde. Already she can feel the pang of jealousy in her chest. There was no way she was going to be able to get a kiss from the person she likes the most. Noticing Jet and Droy were already heading her way for their annual “kiss on the cheek”, Levy didn’t notice Mira smirk until it was too late.

A tap on her shoulder made her turn to look up into bored, red eyes. In a large hand, Gajeel held a Christmas tree shaped sugar cookie covered in green and red frosting. Blinking, Levy gave him a questioning tilt of her head as she reached for the cookie

Gajeel pointed over his shoulder with a thumb. “Erza made a giant batch and made some of us hand some of the cookies out, “ he looked away gruffly. “You just happened to be in the area.”

She lifted the cookie to her mouth for a bite and Levy smiled wide. “Thank you, Gaje-“

Poof!

Frowning at the sound, Gajeel looked up only to scowl very hard. Since she was already looking up, Levy saw the mistletoe appear above her and the Dragon Slayer. Snarling, he whirled to face the smirking waitress behind the safety of the bar. “Mira!”

“You know the tradition, Gajeel. Just one kiss. Won’t be anything but three seconds!” the S Class mage gushed sweetly.

Biting her lip, Levy swallowed the little bit of cookie she managed to munch on, her heart beating hard inside her chest. What would be worse? A little kiss or the embarrassment of being rejected from one?

“Well it’s a stupid tradition! I’m not doing this shit!”

Eyes growing hard, Mira cracked her knuckles menacingly then laid one hand on the bar, as if ready to leap over it at any moment. “It’s a holiday tradition and I put a lot of magic into hiding all those mistletoes up there.”

Everyone in the guild balked at this revelation, glanced up at the ceiling then nervously at who they were sitting by. “What?!”

“Now you are refusing to do something I hoped you have some guts to do. How about we dance, Dragon Slayer? Your defeat will do nicely to make me feel better.”

Levy couldn’t believe Mira just challenged Gajeel to a fight...over a kiss no less! Who ever thought of such a thing?! As her crush took one step towards the waitress who had just jumped over the bar, Levy made a decision. Mira just wanted a kiss, right?

Tossing her sugar cookie aside, she ran forward until she was facing the man she admires most in the world. Placing a hand on his forearm, she jumped up with all her might just as his head turned towards her. Clenching her eyes tightly shut, Levy hoped she got his cheek since that was what she aimed for.

Coos of shock and adoration sounded seconds after her lips met skin. Squinting threw slits, Levy blinked them open to realize with horror that not only had Gajeel turned towards her, but he made her intended kiss on the check turn into a full blown one. Soft lips enveloped hers originally into a yell of outrage, then softened into a brief caress just as she floated back to the ground.

As her feet touched the wooden floor of the guild, Levy turned towards the shocked Mirajane and raised her fist in a show of success. The guild erupted in shouts and guffaws of laughter, making Levy’s watery smile turn into a blushing, shy one. As the attention quickly diverted from her to Mira, Levy let out a heavy sigh of relief. Another fight diverted. Avoiding turning back to her crush, she jogged over to Jet and Droy who were looking at her with half smiles. Pulling them down to her, she pecked them on their cheeks.

“Merry Christmas, Jet. Droy!” she murmured against their shoulders as they enveloped her into a hug.

“You too, Levy.” Her boys chorused back, pressing their newly pecked cheeks against her blue hair.

Gajeel couldn’t believe that girl had the guts to kiss him. Noticing the cocky smirk Salamander was giving him, he glared while fighting the flush of his skin. In response, Natsu simply whirled his blonde partner around for an even longer kiss. The challenge was obvious. Narrowing his eyes, Gajeel looked around for the little bluenette who kissed him.

So you wanna see who can outkiss who, Salamander? Challenge accepted!

Marching after her once he spotted Levy heading towards the table covered with drinks and snacks, Gajeel knows deep down he just wants to kiss her again. Maybe when he was old and decrepit, he would give Mira her credit.

Tapping the girl once more on her shoulder, she turned to him and blushed like a tomato all over again.

“Gajeel? Um, about that I am so sorry! Mira just-“

“Enough.” He said gruffly, crowding her with his body further against the table. Brown eyes widened as she shakily gripped the edge, her blush creepily steadily across the vulnerable nape of her neck.

“Ah…what? “she asked breathlessly, her little pink tongue flicking out quickly to dampen her lower lip. Shit, that only made him want kiss her more.

Gajeel let his long hair fall over one shoulder as he caged her in with both arms. “You have something I want.”

“I…I do?”

Leaning closer until their breaths mingled, Gajeel smirked against her nose. “That cookie I gave you? I never got to have one. Mind sharing?”

He didn’t let her reply. Capturing those lips sprinkled with sugar and a touch of green frosting, Gajeel decided that the taste of Levy covered in sugar appealed greatly to him. He angled his head to his right for a better tilt into invading her mouth, chasing the remains of sugar. Levy moaned, gripped his shirt tightly as he licked the inside of her mouth and tongue. The taste was almost gone, being overridden by the distinct flavor of Levy.

It seemed like forever before she leaned away, eyeing him from under sleepy looking eyes and a lazy but well swollen mouth. Gajeel smirked down at her, reached beside him to snatch up another cookie, only to wolf it down. The challenge in his eyes made hers sparkle in return.

“Mind sharing that?” Levy murmurs as she jumps up to wrap her arms around his shoulders, pulling his lower lip into her mouth, searching for any remains of the sweet treat. Chuckling against her mouth, Gajeel wraps his arms around her tiny waist and pulls her up off the floor against his hard chest.

“Come get it,” he replies hoarsely with want and she nips his lower lip before leaning up to seal her mouth over his once more. Eyes sliding closed, Gajeel mentally noted to grab a few more cookies while propping a hand behind Levy’s head. The yell of outrage as he flipped Salamander off made him smirk inside as he made out with his little bluenette.
As Natsu attacked Lucy for another kiss, Mirajane watched her guild with a hidden smile. Mistletoe was sooo worth it around the holidays.
