Description
There is an old saying about the criminal making one mistake. In the case of Raven Darkhölme, the mutant known as Mystique, it was the blunder of kidnapping Janet Van Dyne in her own home. A home with a very unique type of security system.

Most of the world knows that Janet is the Avengers' Wasp. The former partner and wife of Henry "Hank" Pym, the original Ant-Man. Ant-Man who could not only shrink to the size of an ant but also communicate with them by means of a cybernetic helmet. Over the years Pym improved his size-changing abilities and cybernetic technology.

From the helmet came the Pym Net. A communications system with the insect world that had a far greater range than the headgear. Being able to cover more ground made it easier to track down wanted criminals or whatever Hank and Jan were searching for. Jan had a P-Net transmitter/receiver (with a translator) at her various homes. As did Pym wherever he hung his helmet or cowl. And of course there was one at the Avengers building.

Using the Mesmro drug she stole from A.I.M, Mystique hoped to use it to pump information from an Avenger, a member of the Fantastic Four, and even one of the damned X-Men. She would not only sell the respective secrets to the highest bidders but also make available the Mesmroed heroes or heroines as unwitting saboteurs.

Mystique's first target was Janet Van Dyne as Tony Stark proved too difficult to get to. Thus her big mistake.

For the ants that dwelled in her home in Cresskill saw "Brooke Hamilton," the Wasp's personal secretary, morph into a blue skinned woman with yellow eyes. They saw her, at first, just asking Jan questions and then lead her into her bedroom where the blue skinned human bound and gagged their human Mistress. Then they saw her morph into a copy of her. Another Janet Van Dyne. The ants communicated with each other and the P-Net receiver translated key words that allowed the AI to transmit an alarm to the other P-Net receivers. Most notably the one at the Avengers' current headquarters. Where a certain member just happened to be there at that time.

When the Black Widow arrived she was able to stop the mutant terrorist and rescue not only Jan but the captured Susan Richards as well. Sue who had arrived unexpectedly to discuss a planned charity event with Jan. The Widow discovered her sister heroines were under the influence of Mesmro and arranged for a cure. Mystique was taken into SHIELD custody and promptly escaped afterwards.
