Description Thanks to her husband, Reed, Sue knew how to survive in the jungle. They've been on expeditions together. Hunted together and have even BEEN hunted. Thus, where Dazzler and She-Hulk failed, the Invisible Woman had the best chance of eluding Kraven mainly because of her experience .

She knew how to cover her tracks. And so led Kraven a merry chase for several hours. And where Ali and, to a lesser extent, Jennifer ran into one peril after another Susan was almost able to avoid danger completely.

Almost.

She had stopped rehydrate herself with one of the water bottles in her ration bag. The snake was coiling around her leg, forcing her to lose her balance and fall, before she could react.

Sue grabbed the homemade knife from her belt. With her free hand she grabbed the snake just behind its head. She plunged the knife into the reptile repeatedly, fully expecting the blade to break at any time, until it was finally dead.

"Good job, girls." Sue said to the knife which was still in one piece. Sue freed herself from the snake. After a drink of water she gathered her gear and moved on. No telling how close Kraven was.

Based on the sun in the sky Sue figured it was a couple of hours later when she found the perfect place to make her stand.

This is one of the best Sue Storm works on the Deviant Art website! Β It is a near masterpiece. Β My only wish is that Sue did not have that knife in her hand!

I meant that it was quite an amazing 'encounter' between Sue & snake, thought of by you both who threw in this to emphasis that there is more to this 'stroll' by Susan than her plan to thwart Kraven during his hunt. It not only reminds us of the trouble she is in since the 3 lives are depending on her outwitting the Hunter who so far has succeeded in 2/3rds of the challenge but it also brings us to the natural everyday dangers of this jungle reality.

Poor Sue is not only tired as you said but not paying 100% attention to her environment with most of her mind on various plans when encountering Kraven. Since he is in his element he could literally keep Susan on the hunt by extending the time limit by using her 2 captured friends as insurance for her to continue a nerve wracking exhausting set of 'adventures' during the hunt.

Then again we do not know if there is a time limit on this or if there are others waiting for the prizes of the trio of superheroines. If he is acting alone then this could go onto a week or two or even more if he does not tire of his quarry. If there is a specific deadline then he may be able to delay it a lil bit but all in all it will be in his best favor to deliver her along with the others to whomever is 'sponsoring' this event.

Then again, if Kraven is an admirer of Sue's then he may see it more as a sporting event with him as the Ultimate Male vs her as the Ultimate Female. lol Hey, maybe this is 'foreplay' to Kraven. lol

hugs!! Susan xox

Amazing that she was in a natural trap by a snake although with so much on her mind it must have been almost the last thing she considered. Perhaps Kraven is taking his time with this particular hunt since an enraged experience Invisible Woman is surely worth her weight in gold as far as being his equal. Well, almost since it is still his choice of territory and he does have an ace up his sleeve it seems with his pilot who may be more than just an 'innocent' bystander and part of his contingency plan be it a fallback measure if Sue gets the upper hand. Great story/drawing, guys. hugs! Susan xox

Heck even Tarzan, or Shanna the She-Devil, gets bushwhacked by a critter every now and then. I had to give Sue at least one jungle peril to deal with.

And my take is that Sue was tired from lugging her gear through a hot steamy jungle (wearing a full body suit yet). And the snake was just so fast it was upon her while she stood there catching her breath and taking a drink of water. As you said, she did have a lot on her mind. But once the attack happened our girl reacted like the pro she was.
