you know adding to my previous comment. How much would it suck if you were on the john and the ship suddenly got attacked or collided with something.

Weapons locker FTW!
Phasers rule, I want one; although it's probably a good thing I don't have one, I'd abuse the hell out of that stun setting.

I wonder what a JJverse bridge would look like for the Polaris. Great work; I like the idea of a first aid kit and phaser locker, something I think they missed until TNG.

I don't know how the JJ Polaris bridge looks like, it must be something between the bridge of the Kelvin and the Enterprise.
As for the phaser locker and the first aid kit: the Polaris is a dedicated battleship, the crew must be prepared for everything.

Even so, Enterprise, I believe had phase pistols available in case of a boarding party. I admit I was speculating about TNG, since Worf had whipped out a phaser almost immediately (Best of Both Worlds), but the Defiant (Starfleet's first real warship) did have both of those ready. And, even if it's a science vessel, it makes sense to have something there just in case.

I like the layout. Only one small problem and it is bad planning by the Starfleet Enginnering Department: Where are the stairs?
That was something I saw years ago on the Enterprise Deck Plans. What if there is a major power failure? No stairs to evacuate!
I saw other plans that were drawn later that showed stairs or ladders in the very front behind the wall where the main view screen is.
Do you have stairs / ladder but just omitted them?

There are hatches in the bridge leading to lower decks.

Good thinking. I am sure one of those hatches leads to a bathroom also right? Haha!

I'll re-work this one, with the bathroom and ladders added. Really. You know, with working out the stations and coming up woth the phaser locker, I forgot about the loo...

Hope you dont think I was trashing your work. I was just amused by the topic. It is just something I have read about. When you see deck plans for TNG bridges, they always seem to include those things.
I guess everyone has to remember that the very original deck plans were stage layout for filming the TV show. No need for a bathroom or stairs on a stage right?

Speaking of weapons...
I randomly started a fan fic of star trek, using the ship I made... I'm giving it some upgrades, for example, press a button on the captains chair, and two hidden compartments pop out on either side, and spring two handheld phasers out... takes some practice to catch, but if you need weapons fast...

they had a confrense room though because you see them in there ever so often

That was somewhere in the saucer setion but not inside the bridge module. On the Polaris, the conference room (called the Staff Room) is in the bridge module, on Deck 2, just under the bridge.

Just out of interest why is the control module on the centreline of the ship? while on every other ship of that period it was offset several degrees.

davemetlesits In reply to karanua [2010-03-15 19:09:13 +0000 UTC]
What do you mean by control module?
π: 0 β©: 1
karanua In reply to davemetlesits [2010-03-15 19:59:25 +0000 UTC]
the command module is that small island with the helm and navigation console, the ships main astrogation terminal and the captains chair sited on it, its normally sunken a step or two down on federation ships.
π: 0 β©: 1
davemetlesits In reply to karanua [2010-03-15 21:36:25 +0000 UTC]
It is sunken, it's just hard to see in 2D.

karanua In reply to davemetlesits [2010-03-15 22:30:20 +0000 UTC]
Not meaning sunken dave, its at a different axis to that of the ships centreline, yours follows centreline.

korblborp In reply to davemetlesits [2010-03-21 00:42:36 +0000 UTC]
think what he's talking about is that in the TOS setup, on the external views the bump of the lift shaft is on the centerlin; but in the bridge set, if you are at the back of the bridge in the middle looking at the screen, the lift doors are to the left of where you are standing, which means that the direction the captain and helm/nav is facing would actually be toward the port-bow.
the idea being, in the future on a ship where direct visual navigation (by eye) is not necessary, with artificial gravity and inertial dampening fields-which may frequently SEEM to not be functioning properly, given the shaking that occurs, but if they weren't, all would be dead-and advanced sensors and computers, i doesn't matter which directon the bridge is facing.

SpiderTrekfan616 In reply to korblborp [2012-10-31 20:03:33 +0000 UTC]
Actually there's a reason behind the violent shaking, the sudden accelerations caused by weapons hitting the ship or shields happens faster then the Inertial Dampers can compensate for hence the characteristic "Lag" AKA the shaking.

of course, the simplest answer for you is that it's a different model bridge module, layed out by someone who values symmetry.
simpler is just that it's your ship.
