Fitting, since as far as I understand, the Akira was to replace the excelsior class (filling the cruiser role in the fleet)

You know it's great to keep the name alive but somehow I really doubt that the ship design bureau would wait so long to revive the Excelsior namesake. in my mind this should be at least the NCC-2000-C
