Description the balance

at the bottom we have our assets
placed boringly in the centre in a bar chart
to the left is our darker pessimism
and to the right our brighter optimism

above is our debt, which is unpredictable as our borrowing changes in the effort to maintain some short term stability
it looks unstable

and for whom are the optimistic brighter days?
for those who lend or for those borrow?

so are you optimistic or pessimistic?

Regardless of the balance, life has become cumbersome. Too heavy, too light, too black or too white, too wrong or too right. Today or tonight; Cumbersome.

That song just popped into my head... Flashbacks to the defunct garage band I was in.

Nice balance in the photo.

Great work on this! I prefer to think of myself as an optimistic pragmatist. At my age, idealism fled out the window long ago. However, illness and pain have taught me that life has so much to offer us every day, if we just take the time to look...

I agree completely. Life is beautiful if we let it be, or work to make it so, in spite of the troubles all of us experience at one time or another. One thing I've noticed, trying to be an optimist in a society that seems to be primarily pessimistic is an uphill battle, but it's worth the effort to continually fall in love with life every day.

thanks, yes, time is very precious and it is so rewarding to spend it well, certain things make you value that more.... I hold on to my idealism, as i believe there is much to strive for, even if only in thought

it gets confusing, because you can be a pessimistic optimist, or an optimistic pessimist

Yes, I see your point. I'm pessimistically optimistic when it comes to politics, but optimistically pessimistic when it comes to the economy and ecology of our society. And if you're pessimistically pessimistic, does that have the same result as a double negative, which actually is a positive? Something to ponder...

best way to think is as though everything is positive

the balance should be between what you have and what you need. if either side is heavier, life gets tough - for you or for others.
so, optimism and pessimism are just expressions of this imbalance, i guess.

your balance works very well, i wonder just how many people have become greedy..
we have become a society where peoples desires are a commodity
- the concept of optimism and pessimism is quite complex

I agree in a way, I think to be realistic is better, don't expect too much, but don't settle easily either.
