My entry for ~fashionGIRL18 's Fashion Contest.OK... This is a first for me so give me a break and don't bust my chops!!!
and I suck at faces, hence the headless mannequin.
My original design and idea drawn in Photoshop CS4.
Edited June 22nd... OK folks there's a head now

Obviously it's her avatar with a little photo-manipulation and not drawn in. I did say I wasn't good at drawing faces.

haha It is new for me here on DeviantART.
It's also my first attempt at fashion drawing with photoshop. However, I was raised to be self-sufficient.
After my daughter was born I asked my wife to get me a sewing machine for Christmas. She did but constantly teased me, calling me Susie Homemaker. 
I know I have a photo of the costume somewhere, when I find it I'll scan and post it here.

You know there really aren't a lot of men who sew, but I have to say I have known a few. When you mentioned sewing a costume for your daughter it reminded me how much I used to love doing that. I made a big bird costume for my daughter one year using nothing but a childrens book, fabric scraps and colorful plastic bags. Well I made a few costumes and American Girl look alike dresses and all kinds of hand painted tee shirts for the little girl. The big girl did not want home made clothes anymore so I never got to make a prom dress. I still have a sewing room full of stuff that I hope someone will be able to use one day. The kid doesn't sew, but I have made so many clothes in my life I don't really mind the break.
I would love to see the photo of the costume. Note me when you find it. I am hopelessly behind. It is cool that you are doing something new and different at dA. Fashion is not such a bad thing to do. The best fashion designers in the world are almost always men. Go get 'em David!

YAY!!!! So are you gonna sew it mage? I'm sure you could make a pattern easily enough with your drawing and a few references

hahaha No reason to sew it... just did the design for the contest. Besides, material costs a fortune these days. Now if I were a woman and had somewhere to wear an evening gown I might consider it rather than pay $200.00 or more for a store bought one.
I have a good Singer sewing machine and I've never had any complaints about it.

I'm terrible at drawing faces and I've seen lots of headless mannequins in stores. Since it was a fashion entry I didn't think it would be a big deal.

I know. Draw a headless mannequin it's so much easier than draw a mannequin with a head.

I haven't acquired the skill or knowledge to do a decent photo-manipulation of hair texture and color. Did the best I could with this and I was only allowed one re-submission for the contest.
