sofar the only brushes i've made from learning from that dvd are 'special effect' kinda brushes, like to make scales, beads, chains, that kinda stuff. but yer right, i definitly need to make more!

I see.
Download FileZilla, install and open it. Then go to the FTP forums on WA and find the site, username, and password. You'll be able to access it then

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

David-Holland In reply to ideation [2007-02-25 12:21:45 +0000 UTC]

I might realease a couple of these brushes but not for a while yet

I'll give you a little tip about making brushes like these; draw a rock just by itself then make a brush and adjust how you want to, simple as that

I'll make a tut or something soon

stidged [2007-02-19 20:53:51 +0000 UTC]

would you, for ones try something else then fastpaints?

I mean, your good, but that's kinda why I write this request, if you put time in your work you could be par of the elite on DA, just try it one time, not for me for for whatever turns you on (besides cookies)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

David-Holland In reply to stidged [2007-02-20 00:15:03 +0000 UTC]

lol i'm not quite sure i'm elite status yet but yeah i get really impatient, i'll give my next painting some more time

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

stidged In reply to David-Holland [2007-02-20 12:02:46 +0000 UTC]

that's why time is the key my friend
I'm telling you, you are good, just put some more time in your work. I think I'm the same in these things, I want it beautiful but I don't see myself doing the 18 hour pieces. You are a lot further then I am and I think the only thing that's missing from your current work is the time you put into it.

DaPoZZ [2007-02-19 19:25:38 +0000 UTC]

Question: do you actually use the eraser and many different layers, or just some basic ones and only brushes over more brushes?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

David-Holland In reply to DaPoZZ [2007-02-19 22:15:12 +0000 UTC]

No i only used about 5 or 6 layers for this piece, its all to do with the initial shape brush i used. I created the rocks on one layer then started a new layer but clicked on the clipping mask thing. Then i used three other brushes; one for the snow texture, one for the rock detail and a flat brush for the wedged patches of snow.

Its all about building up textures and the position of your lighting really

DaPoZZ In reply to David-Holland [2007-02-19 22:20:11 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the reply
I'd love to see you doing another detailed step-for-step deviation, with the picture of layers/brushes included ...

seven7seven [2007-02-19 16:42:35 +0000 UTC]

is this full-res detail? the alpinist (i asume he is one ) must have been hard to make if this is full-res, because it takes tiny adjustments..
if this is not full-res, will you post the detail with the alpinist?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

David-Holland In reply to seven7seven [2007-02-19 18:39:08 +0000 UTC]

The originals about twice the size of this (forgot to up res it when i started detailing so in the end i just left it at 2000 pix) lol the guys just a couple of vague blobs with a small highlight
