Description
The original of Jiang is still for sale on my website, muscleart.org for $265. If you like it, please buy it. I had trouble scanning the original drawing to get this image -- the scanner captured glare from the darker areas of the drawing, and I'm not sure I can get a good hi-res image with just a flatbed scanner. Anyway, the original looks better than what I have here.This drawing is somewhere between photoreal and a sketch. One thing that frustrates me about pencil is getting darks to look even and blended, so I like making sketches because I can go dark and not really worry about blending.

Pencil graphite when laid on heavy to get the blacks have a tendency to reflect scanner lighting. I find your best bet is to photograph the drawing with a good quality DSLR with existing lighting or indirect fill in flash. Your pencil renderings are stunning and I just started doing it after 35 years of not picking up a pencil...I have a long way to go to get up to your standards...keep up the great work, my friend!
