love how stylized it looks and very clean work indeed. Pitt artist pens seem to be a good quality, not to say the work itself isn't fabulous. Overall, very well done.

Faster is good, less time slumped over a drawing pad making eye-strain a profession.

Great textures! Are you using brush, pen or both?

Thanks! Mostly PITT artist pens.

Nice. I guess I'll always be a sable brush guy but these PITT pens are sure getting popular and your results speak for themselves.

Sable brushes are the true tool! That and the hunt 102. But I'll tell you, I'm lazy i my old age, and dipping and cleaning... I'm too ADHD and was always leaving a brush laying around without keeping it clean. I've always been terrible that way. I wish I wasn't!

I'm more OCD (or VERY OCD if you ask my wife!) so I keep those brushed spotless and working for years - although it can be a pain. I've found that having a medium-sized jar of water combined with a couple of those old-style, wooden clothespins (the ones WITH the springs) is the key. If I have to go away from my inking, I simply snap a clothespin onto the brush handle and then I can have the clothespin resting on the top edge of the jar, holding the brush bristles under the water. The diameter of the jar opening has to be a bit less than the length of the clothespin, of course.

When I'm finished inking, I fill the jar with clean and very warm water and then leave the brush in it for an hour or so. The cleaning takes hardly any time after that as almost all the ink has gone off the brush and into the water. A few brush swipes on a bar of Ivory soap (and it MUST only be Ivory) under running water, and the brush is clean. And, if you forget and leave the brush in the water overnight, I don't think it does any harm at all, although I wouldn't leave it for weeks or anything.

Since even small sable brushes cost almost $50 now (!), it really pays for me to take care of 'em and I do find there's nothing quite like them. Recently discovering the Raphael 8404 #3 after years of using Winsor & Newton brushes has also made inking by brush even more fun. I always thought W&N were the best but I'd have to say they are slightly inferior to these amazing Raphaels.

Just a couple of the secrets to my success - or is that "failure"?! IHTH
