Day 13: During their favorite season

One of the few things Tetsuko misses about living in Japan is the season of hanami, the viewing of the cherry blossoms as they bloom in the spring. Spring is her favorite season anyway; in her youth she looked forward eagerly to the end of the harsh winters and the return of balmy temperatures; the chance to ditch the heavy coats and long sleeves and don the sleeveless midriff shirts and shorts of which she was so fond. And even in Florida, where the winters aren't anywhere near as bitter, she still relishes the few weeks of warm temperatures in April and May before the heat (and humidity) settles in.

So my idea was to get more specific than just spring; and something different than yet another pic of her at the beach. (There'll be enough of those as it is ) the pic got more and more ambitious, though, as I decided to dress her in kimono, and then decided that the pattern I wanted to put on the kimono could be better rendered in color. On the other hand, though, I didn't want to spend two or three days refining this drawing because, well, daily challenge.

So while I'm not quite ready to consider this piece "finished", I am willing to call it "somewhat presentable", even if it's painfully obvious that I took shortcuts to render the cherry blossoms (for example). (For those curious, it's the "droplet" setting for the airbrush tool in Manga Studio 5 EX.)
