HALLOWEEN TIME BABY!!! For this year's Halloween Art Bomb, my theme is all about yokai, Japanese monsters and myths that both creep us out we admire for their cultural impact. I'm calling it Yokai Month where each day, I'll post a GIF about different yokai, starting Day 01 with the oni.

Oni, the original Japanese word for yokai meaning "to hide or conceal", not just referring to the horned ogres we know today, which now can also mean "ogre/demon". They're large, hulking humanoids that can grow in size, are skilled in magic, and eat humans. You guys know of the TV Trope "Red Oni Blue Oni" right? The red oni are usually more extroverted, wild, and physically strong, while the blue oni are usually more introverted, calm, and mentally strong. Female oni are also called kijo, while not as physically strong as the males, they are more skilled in magic. Hey 's words, not mine. Ok not really it's just one of those don't shoot the messenger things. Here's an interesting I learned: oni represent inhumanity, they were originally former humans whose past wrongdoings turned them into oni forever as punishment. Ok that's all for now, while we may still be in quarantine, we're gonna have to get creative with how we're gonna spend Halloween. How are you guys gonna spend Halloween at home?
