Description June 2015 became an historical landmark thanks to the SCOTUS ruling of legalising same-sex marriage across the US! These 2 pieces are dedicated to all of you out there who can now have their fairytale come true, and to all those who still fight for it! Let's make it a world-wide movement!

Wishing a Happy 4th of July to all of my friends and followers across America - the land of the free and the home of the brave!

This really beautiful. This hits particularly close to meΒ because my mother came out of the closet a few months ago and remarried. I've always felt that as long as two people love each other, they should have every right to be together and get married IF that's what they want--with a great big emphasis on the "if."

Yeah. Kinda rude to go on a deviation and turn it into a soapbox for their personal prejudices :s
And art isn't just about a pretty picture, it's also about the message, and the message of this piece is integral to the art, so to say they didn't like what it stood for, but liked it artistically is just... WAT? Terrible logic!

Yeah, but sometimes they need the message hammered home to them... Sadly they probably will never learn, but we live in an age of enlightenment I think. I've seen so many awesome young people just not standing for the crap the older, crustier, homophobic/racist/etc generation keep spouting.
There's a definite shift in attitudes, and I'm glad I'm alive to see it!
There will always be a few idiots, but it's the stupid ones that shout the loudest. Best to ignore them altogether, and let them wallow in their sad little world

I swear I wish there was a favorite/like feature on here for comments. I couldn't have said it any better! :claps:Β  Yes, I've noticed the shift, too. I'm so happy more young people are not standing for prejudice! Sadly there are some young people who are brainwashed by religion, but maybe they'll grow out of it one day? sigh I know, trying to talk sense into them is tiring, and sometimes it's not even worth it. Sometimes I just wanna say 'oh you wanna be a bigot? Fine, but don't associate with me. -_- lol.

Yeah, the like comment button is sorely needed round these parts.
YOU HEAR THAT, dA? GIVE US A GOOD UPDATE!
I'm hopeful. I used to be rather closed minded as a kid, but grew into a very open minded person. At least I like to think so! I think it only happens once someone confronts their bad behaviour, and WANTS to change it, and then WORKS to change it. It's a long process, and I still catch myself out, so I'm still learning!Β

Oh, I know right? C'mon DA give us something good for once! You already wanna be like facebook anyway. lol.

Yesyesyes 1000%. The person must WANT to change. It's like 'you can't help someone who doesn't want to help themselves' type of thing y'know? Maybe they're just as stubborn as an ox. lol. But I've had bigot friends who even after i explain over and over again why their views are hurtful, they STILL don't get it. -_- Ug. You can see how that would get tiring. Sometimes i think it's best not to be friends with someone like that.

And that's good you're still learning! It shows you care and want to better yourself. That makes me so happy. :3

*nods* Yup. You can talk until you're blue in the face, and some people still don't want to admit defeat, and agree with you. It's stubbornness and pride that's to blame sometimes... :s

Yeah! I won't admit to being perfect, far from it. But I want to be the best possible me I can be And I've had to deal with so much closed-mindedness directed at me. I'm a goth, and I know it's very different to the real struggles other people face, but since I've been on the receiving end of a lot of bullying and vitriol, I just can't project that onto someone else, and make them feel miserable like I felt. Just wouldn't be right

If everyone just treated everyone else with respect and kindness, eh? lol

Ooh, you're goth? That's so cool. I loved/love that style and when I was younger my mom always threw a fit over it. (which saddened me) But now I can enjoy it al I want hell yeh!
And no, I think it's a pretty good comparison to make. There's still prejudices with it (same with some disabled people sadly. ) But it shows you have empathy! We both do, I can't in good conscience be against another person's human rights. I wouldn't be able to live with myself.

Hell yeh, goth til death!

aww, the link doesn't work?

Speaking of goth, would you say you're a specific 'type' or just goth in general? (Pastel goth, steampunk goth etc. )

lol I know, right? Wonderful time to be alive, isn't it?

instagram.com/vonmonsta/ now? o.o

It's 'vonmonsta' on instagram if that link is also being silly xD

I dunno anymore. Used to be somewhat of a 'romantigoth', basically the type to wear huge poofy skirts, and victorian style stuff, but not steampunk if that makes sense

(very old pic of me XD)

But yeah, I wear a lot of Killstar clothing now... So... a corporate shill goth Kinda close to hipster goth for comfort, but I still wear corsets and flowy pretty clothes when I go out most of the time.

Yup! Works fine now. XD Ah, so much inspiration!

Ahh, I love Victorian style. (so that's romanticgoth? lol I didn't know that. XD )
the colours of that dress are so lovely. Is it wrong for me to say I get a bit of a Lydia vibe from it? (Bettlejuice) Very nice! Did you make it yourself?

I've never worn a corset...are they uncomfortable?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MissusJakabok In reply to Dragonnerd445 [2015-08-15 20:52:40 +0000 UTC]

I think so lol There's so many different terms now... I read 'romanticgoth' on one of Voltaire's funny 'what is goth' books but Victorian Goth also works well.
YES! I'm glad you do, because that's what I was going for! Channelling the Beetlejuice part with the stripes, and the wedding dress from the red skirt I love vintage Tim Burton stuff...
And I didn't make any of it, it was overpaid for (but I did make a real steel boned corset, that I kind of forgot about until just now 0.0 Maybe I should submit a deviation of it sometime!)

A tiny bit when you're seasoning it, but not really uncomfortable. Just snug? You kinda wear it in over a few months, not closing it too quickly. Then it doesn't hurt at all. I've gone down about 8 inches now I think on my waist, but when I take it off, my waist goes back to how it was after a few hours, so it's not an intense body mod or anything lol Just a temporary cinch

Ahha! I knew it! I miss that movie/series. Shame he didn't continue it.

I enjoy most of Burton's stuff too for the most part. I really liked Nightmare Before Christmas and Sweeney Todd (even though I'm not much of a Depp fan. )

Oooh. The corset would be nice to see if you feel like uploading it sometime.

I've seen some insanely tight corsets. Like this lady: www.google.com/search?q=tighte…

I'm like 'ahhh how do you function?? '

Yeah! Though I've heard there is going to be a Beetlejuice 2... It's been rumoured so much, and lately there seems to be some weight to the rumours!
I'd prefer that to the new Alice Through The Looking Glass he's doing. Never liked his Alice in Wonderland, but maybe I just prefer his old stuff (and the Mad Hatter in it just really annoyed me)

And Johnny Depp is in way too much of his movies. Same with Helena :s Kinda glad in a perverse way that they broke up - maybe Tim will start using different actresses now

I should do that today... I'm pretty sure I contracted the norovirus at work, so I'll in at home all day anyway; I've got the time! XD

WOW. Never seen one that tight lol But I got into waist training when I heard about that famous woman in the guinness book of records with the smallest waist. But then when I read it, I found out that she did it because it offered her back support because she had quite serious back problems, and the habit just stemmed from that, which I find interesting

I wear mine to disguise my chubby tummy I'm always bloated with the IBS, so it hides that, and makes me look in proportion. I lost quite a bit of weight recently, and my tummy is still big :/ Nearly flat in the morning, but after breakfast, it just balloons. FML! XD

The style looks very Disney. That's the next step, be properly represented in an animated Disney flick by characters that aren't foppish villains. Expect to see that in the 2040's.
