Description Many of you may not recognise the old man in this picture, but all of you know of his students and heard about his teaching. Rav Berg, founder of the Kabbalah Centre decided to leave this world today.

In the 9 years that I'm studying Kabbalah, I was blessed to meet Rav Berg 4 times. The first was during the 2004 Rosh Hashannah convention in Tel Aviv. I came there for a very different, selfish reason - trying to see my favourite singer, but ended up finding myself staying at the convention, doing volunteer work for 10 days, going into lectures and discovering something my soul was longing for - a connection. A week after the holiday was over, I registered for daily classes in the city of Tiberias. Since then I do all that I can not to disconnect.

One of the most amazing things I've heard the Rav say in one of his lectures was this: "When you enter a room with noting but darkness in it, what do you do in order to find your way? Do you try to push some of the darkness outside of? Fight it? Make it go away? NO! The only thing that you need to do is to turn on the light, and it will guide you!"

Like so many true revolutionists before him, often times Rav Berg was criticized for passing on the teaching of kabbalah to non Jews, for allowing people of all walks of life into his classes, for spreading the Holy ZOHAR to everyone around the world! In Israel I took part in spreading the ZOHAR to Palestinians, an act that was greatly scrutinized by some, but it was a burning desire in the Rav's heart to share this gift with everybody and everyone - as the Light shines upon all who lives on this earth - the Light dose not divide, the Light dose not see the colour of a skin, the prophet you pray to, or the person you go to bed with. The Light is all giving and giving to all.

It is common to say that when a person leaves this world, you should go to their funeral to pay your last respect. The Rav's funeral will take place today in the holy city Safed, which is known as the city of Kabbalah. I will not be able to attend it, but I do feel that the true way I, and everyone else, can truly pay their respect to this great leader is by keeping is ways alive - We need to share more, love more, become more compassionate and more forgiving.

I'm not sad today. I am happy that we live in an age when we have so many abilities to record and document the Rav's teaching for generations to come, happy that we live an age of openness, of free knowledge, and I'm happy for the tools the Rav brought to life to all of us. He is now one with the Light in more ways then one, and now the Light will shine ever brighter - all we need to do to receive it is simply to connect...
