A lot of excellent movement and character can be seen in each.

I was wondering, are all of these caricature studies from life? Your characters all have so much life to them, I'm always trying to figure out if they come from the world outside or the world inside your head!

yes all of these on this post are from life...
let life inspire you...pull the personality out...its there..I just turn it up a few knotches..Thats my job as a character designer...

Oh my word the guy on the top left is so expressive! These drawings are fantastic, and the watercolours add even more vitality to the pictures. Very nice!

Awesome characters as usual! I was wondering: About how tall are these sketches, say the ones with just a head and neck/shoulders?

yeah 5-3 inches...
this a paste up of 6 sketchbook spreads...its one of those mole skin landscape sketchbooks the real small ones...smaller then 6x9 (closed) I think....

It's not the quantity but the quality, Dave. But if you need a big crowd to watch you draw, we can bus in some homeless people to stroke your ego, hahaha. But on average, I'd say currently it hovers around between 20 to 30 of the finest people (artists) you'd ever want to share a beer/drawing with in L.A. proper. But it's just not the same without you and Mark my friend. Every time you don't show up, a kitten dies a horrible death at the hands of the ghost of Hitler. And let that is a sad, sad affair.
But I'm in Europe now until the 12th on Jan. so you have a grace period to think about your kitten killing days before you have to show up.

I live in Nebraska. Only good thing about that is I'm 24 hours away from anywhere in the states if I drive all day and night.

Yep,
I just soooo prefer water colours to oils, (though every now and then, someone does something oh so awesome in oils) When I saw how you accentuated your pieces, I thought of Steve Hanks. Very different style from yours, obviously, but when I see a great artist stepping out and playing, I had to share. A couple friends of mine (Brandon Peterson among them) really were impressed by Steve's use of colour and shading. I hope you like his art as much as I do. (you'll have to scroll down the page to see his stuff)
