Although the practicality of the reload on that rifle looks terrible, both look very well done. Good Work!!
If you want to continue in that direction with the rifle, I think a longitudinal magazine like the P90 uses would work with your design concept well.

yeah the P90 reload is a good idea, I was trying to make the design more interesting by putting that reload mechanism into it, but I should've given it more thought. This one started out as a sketchbook doodle so it was visuals first and not design follows function
