Description Originally, Skyzm was going to be a much simpler playing card game involving court magicians summoning and exorcising demons based on those found in the Ars Geotia. Once the game evolved into an LCG, however, I was forced to enhance the flavor of the game to compliment the new core mechanic.

Sifting through old projects I came across "Dissension," a post-apocalyptic tale of angels and demons battling for control of Neo Gothica, a city of utter iniquity. It was a match made in Hell. It's conformity vs. anarchy. It's angels and demons as you've never seem them before.

So it became a fun challenge in taking Weyer's descriptions of the 72 demons and modernizing them, along with a fighting game twist. I really wanted each of these to look like a character you might be able to play as in an Ark Systems Works fighting game.

Anyway, these guys represent chaos and disorder. That said, I made them a circus of freaks, monsters, punks, Gs, trannies, and whores. These are the dregs of Neo Gothica, the cancer of the angel condition: order and unity.

Note: Yes, I sampled a great deal off the interwebs. This is concept art, and as such is not intended for distribution. There is only one of me and over 300 card arts. Forgive me if I cut corners now and again. Also, I should mention that I got the idea for these thumbnails from a certain artist who worked on "All Points Bulletin."

Thanks for the view and make sure to check back every now and then!

Today when I woke up and looked outside the window at the incoming storm, I thought to myself, "you know what, Davy? There will be a rainbow at the end of this storm." Thanks Nell, for being my rainbow on a rainy Tuesday. I know I shot myself in the foot for requesting Critique (on an ancient work of art) but even you admitted that "you can't be positive and don't like being negative," so this begs the question: What sort of critic are you?

I see that you have no deviations and have just made 11 comments in the course of a year. Should I feel honored? Thanks for taking the precious time out of your day to take a dump on one of my favorite personal projects and a piece that took me nearly a week to create. You're absolutely right that they aren't original or creative, even though there is nothing in creation that closely resembles what I've done with Skyzm.

I wish you "better" luck next time you stop to critique an artist's past work.

They look like they could buy a patch of land for a freak show tent or something. With Bael as their ringmaster, of course.

Nice! Yeah, they sure are a wild bunch. If you like what you see, check out my scripts for the first four comics! I immediately start killing off characters! lol

Oh man i like this alot. But it kinda feels that theese could have been done bigger and seperate batches, like 3 or something. But this is still awesome :3

Thanks! Actually, this was done intentionally. I kept them thumbnail size to prevent me from going into ridiculous detail and so I can see how they all stack when placed together. I don't know if this is pro logic, but I know that I can easily get lost in one piece and I was on a time constraint. So I have these little things to prevent myself from lag. Thanks again for commenting!!

OH yeah i know that feel, and the worst thing about it is that when you do one work for long time, and kinda have this gut feel to experiement, it's so hard when you have spent sooo much time on it already

Everytime i see this makes me really impressed ! you truly bombard amazing designs everywhere, and every single one are so UNIQUE, with his/her own personality.

You are an underestimate genius my friend. Everyone who has already try this kind of stuff knows how hard it is to go along with like 10 great characters, and there man, you come with no less than 72 awesome concepts !

Full respect from me, and i'm proud to work with you buddy.

Yeah, this is my baby, like I told you. I've been drawing alot of these characters over and over again since 2004, so it definitely wasn't an overnight thing. But I really appreciate you saying that and you know how I feel:

Wow! I'd love to fight these guys in a video game. Or even play as them... You have DEFINITELY earned a favorite. I mean, if this DID get created into some big game, i'd just love to see the fan art that comes from it. Also, I was wondering if there was any significance to the their numbers and the order they're in? Like, lower the number the more powerful? (Or vice versa?)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DavyWagnarok In reply to Warriorofricverclan [2014-07-14 14:09:48 +0000 UTC]

Rank starts from King Baal and works its way down to the 72nd demon, Andromalius. The numbers were made in the Ars Goetia, a sort of demon encyclopedia from the Middle Ages, used in both exorcisms and demonic rituals.

These concepts are from a stand-alone card game called Skyzm, that I was developing for a couple months last year. The demand for art was just too much for one person, so I put it on hiatus and went to work on N30N City RUMBLE, which comes out on Kickstarter in two days! Β  If this thing pops off, I hope to get back to Skyzm, cos I think it's got something really special going on that the world hasn't see yet!

Check out the KS for my latest game (not live yet, so you'll have to scroll down to see it): www.kickstarter.com/projects/d… Β

I have way too much time. Spend most of it thinking what to do next. I don't have a style or genre, I am a bit all ober the place art-wise. I have grown quite a bit since christmas, my husband gave me a really cool android tablet for doing my art on.

Good to hear! Well, I like to think of myself as a jack of all trades, master of some. I'll never be the best at one singular style, like Art Germ (a god, I know), but I will be remembered for my versatility as an artist!

Just keep practicing and you'll get where you need to be!

Yeah, I don't know why I feel the need to pin down a style. Guess I see good art and see that those artists have a set style and think that's what makes them good.Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DavyWagnarok In reply to EnDabuwya [2013-10-31 00:31:44 +0000 UTC]

Well, that's the great part about being a game designer--you don't have to be an artist! You could always create a prototype of your game and pitch it to a licensed developer like FFG, who will hire talent to add polish and flavor to your world! Of course, the pay out is lower, but sacrifices must be made. This is why you would want to produce a whole bunch of games!

I say you should just roll with your idea and see what happens!

DavyWagnarok In reply to EnDabuwya [2013-10-31 01:07:11 +0000 UTC]

Well, you need to hurry and get to that. You'll know in ten minutes whether you're working on a dud or not. Dude, I went through fucking 8-9 prototypes of varying games (one was a board game featuring moles... WTF?) before settling onto Skyzm. I tested "72 Demons," her ancestor, almost 30 hours before giving up on it. Some games sound better on paper, you know what I mean? You need to test it out yourself, and if it's worth a shit, test some more until you think it's good enough to show to others. Once it is, take it to a game store or somethin' and blind test it with some nerds. That's the final step in knowing whether or not you should pursue your game.

Wait, sorry to unload advice on you like a dick. lol. It's just... I don't meet too many aspiring game devs and when I do, I want to help as much as possible!

King Baal my fave, I really like Scarminglione and Dr. Malphas and Coffin and Flourish xD

61, 62,63 are all quite silly xp

I'm a fighting game freak and it shows in just about everything I do. I can't hide it! lol. One day, she will be a fighting game, but for now I can sort of mimic a fighting game with a really fast and fun mechanic akin to Flash Duel.

King Baal is a total pimp. Scarminglione is one of my more creative OCs out there. Coffin needs his own comic.

Hey, every story needs some comedy relief! And what do you mean? Corn Dog = epic. haha

Yeah, and there's 72 more on the angels' side. And each card can be flipped over to reveal a Power, which adds ANOTHER 144 card count. Couple that with the 14 Seraph and Devil cards, and the 36 Turf cards... Wow, I'm literally going to be doing nothing but working till March! lol.

Thanks for stopping by! Stay tuned to see how this beast comes together!
