omg, this is incredible, how do you do this, it looks as though you've added painting to the fractal display. I would love to know how you do this, or at least how to get started in it. I am a total fan!

Thank you so much for your kind comment. This was created in Apophysis and I rendered it in Chaotica. Much of what I do is in Apophysis and it is a product of what other artists have shared. Chaotica appears to be the software of choice for many and j-wildfire for others for creating there art but it is a matter of preference.
Here is a link to one of the premiere fractal artists who software of choice is Chaotica. She has written tutorials and developed video's to assist in the creation of some awesome effects. Then it is up to the artist to create and make it there own.
