Royal ancestors headcanon:
Celestial Queen Nebula, protector of heavens and queen of the night. Status: Ascended. Behold her in all her glory, the mother of Luna and Celestia herself. There has been many rumors of her even existing, but she was real. She was married to Celestial King Creation, and lived a very long life with him. She was a good mother, a protector of all, a true warrior. Unfortunately, her time in Equestria came to pass as the Alicorn vs Draconeqii war started. Her children foolishly wanted to help her and landed in the claws of the enemy, she went to save them but was ambushed. The Alicorns had won the battle, but their king and queen were deeply wounded, many had died and the only ones that are known to have survived were the two princesses and three draconeqii, Celestia, Luna, Discord, Cosmos and Eris. Their parents had fought bravely, but before they succumbed to their wounds, they gave their daughters all their power to be the next protectors of Equestria, and ascended. Now they are only mere rumors, and very few ponies even know of their existence. It is believed that they became the sun and the moon that they carried on their backs, to continue to watch over Equestria.
