Brother Avenge
“MARIO!” Luigi’s eyes strained to see his older twin as Bowser attempted to roast him alive. If it wasn’t for that snow flower they had picked up, Mario would surely be roast plumber now. The short man with a dark mustache was weakened considerably at the moment though. When the fire was done, Mario’s form returned to his normal outfit, the snow flower’s power fading away, leaving in its place a man who had multiple cuts and holes in his clothes and skin. Mario was panting hard as he strained to keep himself up.
“You’re finished plumber!” Bowser growled as he came closer to attack Mario one last time, the Italian plumber having fallen to the floor, bleeding out, and barely breathing.
Luigi had finished getting Peach out of the cage, and rushed in front of his older twin brother. Bowser paused. Usually Luigi was a coward and didn’t face him without Mario’s help. Now apparently, he was standing in front of his fallen brother.
Mario weakly looked up at his little brother as his mind slowly put together what was going on. Luigi growled at Bowser, his white gloves starting to spark, making Mario realize that his green brother still had his lightning gloves from their trip to the Beanbean kingdom. “L…l…Luigi?” he tried to understand what was going on, but his wounds were starting to wear on him.
“BWAHAHAHA! This is rich! Green-stache is going to defend you? HA! What are you going to do, ya little coward, quiver in front of me?” Bowser laughed as Peach ran to hide behind a pillar so the brothers wouldn’t worry about her. Bowser was so close to destroying Mario, but he didn’t care. Destroying the younger first would make Mario suffer all the more before dying. It would be delicious!
“You almost killed Mario…” Luigi growled. He had fought the large Koopa almost as much as Mario had, and still Bowser didn’t remember his name. It was insulting. At the moment though, something else was fueling his anger. He gave his weakened brother a quick glance before adjusting his stance. He was pissed. ‘No one hurts my big brother and gets away with it.’ Luigi had one hand near his pockets while the other hand was brought up in a threatening way. “Now it’s my turn, bitch.”
Luigi wasn’t one to curse. In fact, Mario had only ever heard his little brother curse a couple of times before. That had been when Mario had been captured by King Boo. Luigi had not been happy, and that had just been imprisonment. This time, Bowser had almost killed Mario. He wouldn’t be getting off so easy this time.
Bowser was somewhat startled that the cowardly plumber had grown a pair and had decided to fight against him, even though he had seen Mario get pummeled. He shook off his shock and started forward again. “Alright then, come at me, you….OOF!” Luigi hadn’t let him finish his sentence.
It had been so fast that no one was sure what had happened, not even Mario! Luigi had flicked a mushroom at his brother to stabilize him, which helped his health from hitting rock bottom, then he had picked up the red plumber to ensure that he wouldn’t come to anymore harm, and had somehow managed to use his lightning abilities to shoot forward and knock the Koopa King back.
Bowser was stunned. How did that happen? Luigi took a glance at his weakened brother, adjusting his hold as he realized that Mario had passed out. Luigi’s eyes turned back to Bowser, a cold blue rather than his usual sky blue. Mario looked slightly better due to the mushroom that Luigi had used, but the red plumber was still pretty bad off, not to mention, unconscious and barely hanging onto his younger brother. Luigi gritted his teeth, knowing that his twin’s weight was slowing him down and that he needed to finish this fast. He then saw Peach still hiding behind a pillar. Dodging Bowser’s fire attack, now that he had gotten over his shock, Luigi made his way over to the pink princess and laid Mario down.
“Take care of him, I’ll handle Bowser.” He said as he left her with his supplies pack, which held all his mushrooms and items. He pulled out his hammer, which hung on his belt, and his lightning gloves were adjusted. You just don’t mess with the Mario Brothers and get away with it.
With a quick dash and a jump, Luigi was back in the thick of it, managing to knock Bowser back again. Bowser kept throwing taunts as Peach kept trying to revive Mario. Even mushrooms had their limits though. One of Bowser’s swings hit Luigi hard in the chest, sending him back against a wall, rubble flying down near him, but missing the green plumber by a few feet. Luigi groaned as he forced himself up, his determination not wavering to make the large Koopa pay for what had happened to Mario. Luigi pulled out his hammer and started to charge the cool steel with his thunder gloves, charging it full of energy, heat, and lightning. Bowser came close for another attack, only for Luigi to jump, and flip in the air before landing a powerful attack with his hammer, seeming to come down like a comet! The blow would have surely killed a lesser being, but in this case, while it burned Bowser badly, it had only knocked him out, probably giving him a concussion.
Luigi was panting as he looked over the fallen form of Bowser. He was exhausted, but relieved that the fight was over. Luigi quickly turned towards his brother and the princess, hoping that Mario hadn’t just died on him. “Is… he…”
“He’s still breathing, Luigi, but we have to get him home to a doctor!” Peach was crying in fear for her beloved hero.
Luigi nodded and picked up his brother once more. Mario groaned slightly to indicate life as Luigi lifted him up and gently held him like a mother would a babe. “Easy, Mario. It’s over… you’re safe now…” Luigi and the princess started heading out of the castle while carrying Mario. “I’ve got ya, bro. Don’t a-worry. Everything’s just fine.” With reassurances from his brother, Mario was eased into a gentler and easier sleep. His twin brother said that they were safe, and Mario had all of his trust in his brother. After all, Luigi would always take care of Mario, and vice versa.
