Description #880-883

While these Pokémon do not appear to have been closely related, they all produce certain unusual compounds in their bodies that are preserved in fossilization, which is why their fossils are able to be combined and revived into hybrid Pokémon.  The rare genes that cause shininess also interact with these compounds, causing all of their shinies to look similar.

Solentozolt (Electric/Flying)

Regular ability: Volt Absorb
Hidden ability: Static

For a long time, only the front half of this ancient bird was known.  It was only recently that the back half was discovered, allowing competent scientists to resuscitate the Pokémon as it used to exist.

While the membranes attaching its tails to its legs contain no bones, they can be seen in a famous impression fossil.  It seems that the oscillation of these membranes generates most of the electrical power this Pokémon commands.

Arctophtin (Ice/Psychic)

Regular ability: Slush Rush
Hidden ability: Ice Body

A fish-like reptile, once known only by its back half, it turns out to have had a long snout full of very sharp teeth.  It seems to be extremely intelligent.  While it cannot speak, it consistently understands human speech very soon after revival.

It lives primarily in the water, but has to come up for air.  It is also capable of walking around on land, just very slowly.

Dracollenia (Dragon/Ground)

Regular ability: Sand Rush
Hidden ability: Hustle

At first, it was controversial among researchers whether the front half seen here actually matched to the back half, no matter how well they fit together, because the back half was usually thought to be from a herbivore.  It wasn't until a few nearly-complete specimens were discovered that it became accepted by the scientific community at large.

The large horns on its head seem to be used mostly for territorial disputes.  When chasing after prey, it leans its head upward, leaving the horns to lie roughly parallel to its body.

Dunossovish (Water/Fighting)

Regular ability: Water Absorb
Hidden ability: Strong Jaw

It was thought for a long time that the fossilized fish heads common in Galar were from a species related to certain other ancient fish, but it turns out it was more of a sea monster all along.  This Pokémon is built to be dangerous, from its armored eyes to its powerful jaw to its heavy, knife-like tail, but it has a calm and stoic demeanor.

While it can only breathe underwater, it can hold its breath for upward of an hour safely in order to walk on land, comparable to some whales.
