Description A door of a 'vernacular architecture' shed reconstructed as an abstract painting.

I had done this a few years ago. Then before uploading here, I did several other versions...with more natural toning, with hand-painted colors, etc. After spending several hours on them, I went back to the original version. Oh, well. I uploaded some of the others into scraps so that you can see what I agonize over:

Taken in Istanbul, Turkey.

Edit: Recropped.

There is also a fairly famous Turkish artist that uses whole doors as art.

Who? But my remark was more about the general feeling of the pic, not the use of the door in itself.

Famous in Turkey, ofc. Like all Turkish artists, practically unknown outside.

Burhan ----> Rauschenberg (at least the first link).

That is not always true... Yilmaz GΓΌney, for example... Ohran Pamuk... And some footballer like Emre!!!

A few names, certainly, but not proportional to what could be. Ofc, it's not just the Turkish artists that have low exposure. There are 1.2billion Chinese, and I cannot name a single Chinese musician, or artist. (I know they exist, exhibit and sell their work in the West. It is just that I don't pay enough attention to learn their names.)

Ah ah ah!! It is true, undeniable!! However, I do not think there are so many on "official" scenarios, because China is still a dictatorship and it shows a lot. I can at least mention some directors: Zhang Yimou and Chen Kaige for example. But yea, they are definitely exceptions.

(I hate when dA does that strange thing with smileys. The actual spelling is T Γ  p i e s, take spaces off).

You know him?
