With a mighty puff, Lhotse dragged the enormous wounded Ursine man closer to the aid station. Equines ran up and helped drag him to safety. Lhotse looked at these Equines again through the lens of fatigue. The she-bear had other concerns, yes, but... She was well appeased by the fact that these Equines brought a lot of provisions, warriors, and they were useful both in the rear and at the front, especially in the fight against monsters, especially such large ones as the Giant.

The part where Kangchenjunga, Lhotse and Balthazar were was the “front”, although this front was actively shifting thanks to giant, all that the centaurs could offer as opposition: lead away from the village, set it on fire, and try to get to its core with varying success. Some of the centaurs were involved in the defence of anything. The other hid. The third is now present here, including equine warriors sent from one point on the map. Along with them came good equipment, including weapons, and humanitarian aid... Very expensive and rich, as if the half of passionate warriors of the entire island decided to gather in one place and bring their belongings.

She already knew who they were. During hibernation, her memory was not greatly distorted. Even in ancient times, these people inhabited the same territory. Malomaretsk - that’s how they liked to call their home; they called themselves Malomars. They looked heavy, little larger than their other equine specimen, and their upper torso was exceptionally lighter than their lower parts. And everyone spoke with an accent. The culture was, to put it mildly, specific: good-natured and simple, even a little naive. Lhotse still did not understand how their hierarchy was built, but otherwise they seemed structured. She knew one thing for sure: right now, a certain Berkut had a big word, he drove back and forth, often communicating with both Balthazar and Kangchenjunga, and apparently communicating with the rest of the Malomars.

At the same moment that she thought about him, Berkut flew nearby with his eagle companion. It seems that in his hands there was something for Kangche, another bundle of papers. As far as Lhotse could tell, it possibly could be from their emperor.

Lhotse decided to follow Berkut and hear more from him. She promptly gave orders to the arriving shift workers so that they would monitor the kitchen and warehouses, while she furtively rushed off to fetch the chestnut equine. She was not mistaken, he really brought something for Kangche. It wasn't good to eavesdrop, but she didn't want to be reprimanded for being too nosy. She seemed to be able to sit more comfortably and hear more clearly.

– Unquenchable fire? – The rough, deep voice of Kangche was heard, carefully examining the dense packages.
– Yes. It explodes and spreads the fire around. The name is loud, in fact it’s just hard to splash it with water, otherwise everything is as always. – Answered the elderly, slightly less deep voice of Berkut
– Ah... Where did you get it?
– Uhh – Berkut scratched the back of his head – we craft ourselves and bargain with other villages. The set of materials is specific; you can’t get it everywhere, so to get ingredients, visiting place or trading is the only way.
Kangche turned the parcel over in his hands.
– How difficult will it be to extinguish the forests if something happens? – Kangche still thought about the state of the environment, but for now, bringing down the giant was a higher priority.
– Hmm... The same as in a regular forest fire. Dig ditches, pull up grass, and throw earth or sand onto the fire itself.
– Young m- – Kagche wanted to address Berkut as a young man, but alas, he was only young at heart. He corrected himself. – Hmm. Colleague. What's in the letter?
Berkut quickly unrolled the rest of the package and showed it to Kangche.
– Tsapla wants to send analysts to study the giant. He also needs to update his knowledge of the current situation.
– Analysts... hmph... this could be dangerous.
– I agree, but I trust my brother, he rarely does anything to the detriment of his people, at least through negligence...
“To my people,” Lhotse repeated in her hearts, while Berkut and Kangche headed to the tent to draw up a more detailed report. Her cartographic nature simply called to see what was there, what had changed, how much the local way of life had changed, what cities. Take a brush and...

... And the booming sound of splits echoed through the air.

Yes. Reality brought her back to where she was in body and not in thoughts. Lhotse looked back to see the giant throwing a large ball-shaped bundle of burning branches. Tearing the air and screeching, mass landed somewhere half a kilometre from the base, scattering fragments throughout the area.

Unfortunately, Lhotse was so fascinated by these fireworks that she did not notice the arrival of an arrow from one of the cultists. Fortunately, Berkut flew up to her in time and repelled the vile attack.

- Yes, the giant is not a brainless idiot, she also understands how dangerous fire is for everyone, not only for herself. – The chestnut-haired Equine hissed in anger, standing between Lhotse and the one who launched the arrow at her.

Archer intended to resume the attack, and at this time Berkut blew in his whistle. From a distance, the clatter of hooves and a battle cry were heard. This greatly scared the unlucky sniper, but before he had time to shoot, the two centaurs disappeared into the depths of the forest plantation. Where he did not dare to enter, and only trees would be tormented by arrows.

While Berkut and Lhotse were winding between the pines, the clanging and rustling of fighters was heard here and there. Lhotse unconsciously tucked herself under the chestnut-haired Equine's side, almost merging with him. From the outside, it might seem that Sleipnir himself is running by. Despite the fact that Berkut tried to keep his attention on the action, he felt the coarse fur of Ursine, comparing it with the same coarse but less oily, of the Canines.

– So where are we going? – Lhotse asked, suddenly coming to consciousness.
– Now we will lay out the “gifts”. – Berkut answered in auto, but after a couple of seconds he decided to clarify. – We go to the warehouse near the hill, take the unquenchable fire from there, place it at the points, and then lure the giant into them.
    Lhotse let out quiet alright.

Running around the fragments that pierced the ground, two hazel coloured centaurs reached a warehouse guarded by a group of Malomar warriors. At first, they were wary, but upon recognizing Berkut they let more space. The elder quickly dived into a nearby container and unpacked the contents.

While Lhotse was looking around confusedly, Berkut pushed a container into her hands.
– Come. You’ll help unpack the boxes around the territory as well.
    Lhotse took those and nodded.
